| | Question about NA & Celexa So I'm just wondering why some of the NA meetings listed on the website say they're private...Like when it says Open to the public, some will say yes, some will say no. What do you have to do - sign up in advance or something? There is only 1 NA meeting in my area that is open to the public, and I went to it before - BUT I think I'd like to be a part of a different group, PLUS at this point - I think maybe two times a week for me would be better than just once a week. I need that extra push here and there. Not that I'm doing bad, I'm taking my suboxone, only 8 mgs a day, although yesterday I started shaking super bad and had to take another 2 mgs at night, which my doctor will be just fine with just as long as I call him and let him know, still taking 25 mgs of seroquel for sleep, which I'm going to ask to get it bumped up to 50 mgs, and now I'm taking Celexa for depression. Ohhh...That's the other question I had, has anyone else in here taken Celexa before? How did it work for you? I'm taking 20 mgs at bedtime. My doctor said it's in the same drug class as Paxil (I used to take as a teenager) BUT..He said this stuff you dont have to taper down from to get off, he said you can stop taking it at anytime, and there is no risk for dependancy - Any truth in this? I'll be keeping everyone in my thoughts tonight, and keep up the good work! |

They are not addictive or cause deppendance in the traditional sence, in that you don't CRAVE anti-deppressant meds. But, they do alter the seretonergic functions of your brain which causes your body to become deppendant on the med. Not all people have problems or withdrawl type symptoms when stopping SSRI med's but, most do....The longer you take it the harder it is to stop taking. If you do not feel that you really need an anti-deppressant then I would try to do without it.....That is your decision to make. I have been on SSRI's for 11 years and it is very difficult to get off of them...I hope this helps some..Good luck....ERin |

Please go to Lexapro withdrawal on this site and read more. Do not stop the Celexa without tapering off 5% at a time. |

| | I am one week off Celexa and feel like garbage. I do not advise anybody to take this drug. I was put on 20mg daily while I was in rehab for Vicodin. I took it for 2 months then forgot my prescription while I was on vacation. I started feeling like ******************** so I decided to stop. Its awful. |

| | closed meetings Hi there!
My boyfriend had to go to 16 AA meetings for a DUI he got years ago.
The first meeting he asked if I would go with him. Sure, why not!
Well, we did not know what a "closed" meeting was either!
In AA a closed meeting means no friends or family or anyone who is NOT an alcohol are permitted to attend. It is for alcoholics ONLY>
I assume it would be the same for NA.
The lady who ran the meeting actually confronted me at the end of the meeting. She said, "You aren't an alcoholic are you?" I was like NO! I'm sorry I came to the meeting, I didn't know it was closed. LOL I was a little taken aback, but you have to respect the anonymity of the organization.
Hope that helps!
