I have been sober for a little over a year off heroin and oxy. But now i have rotten wisdom teeth and was given vicodin for the pain, how must risk is there compared to what i use to do?

The amount of risk for me would be HUGE. I relapsed from a major oxy problem after having almost four years clean because of dental surgery. I had used previously for decades. I have since had two teeth cut out and didn't have any pain meds at all. They were painful for a day or so but I didn't relapse again. You may know you are not taking them to get high but your body doesn't know that. It knows that the vics feel good.

I am not saying you don't have a good reason to take the vics. Wouldn't blame you. Just saying it would be very risky if you are like me. Try to remember that following major dental procedures you can usually do without the pills after a day or two for sure. Just be very careful if you take them and don't take any that you don't absolutely have to have. Don't keep any extra left over pills around either. Good luck.

I dont think I fully understand your question but here's a shot at an answer anyway

If I understand correct you are asking how much are you at risk for relapsing with these vicodin you have just gotten? I would say its pretty risky--if it were me, though, it would be less likely for me to relapse with vicodin than the oxys or something stronger, but what always happens to me is when the vicodins (around here they don't prescribe vicodin its hydrocodone but anyway..) are gone, then I'll start looking for an oxy or a dilaudid which is why I am being treated now. The vicodin is one thing but the needle fun drugs are another thing I have to completely stay away from. I don't want to travel down that road any more
