Default Propoxyphene (Darvocet) to help ween off Hydro?

What are all your thoughts on using something like Propoxyphene (Darvocet) to help ween off stronger and more euphoric opiates like Hydro & Oxycodone?
I was figuring that it would help alleviate WD pains while still appeasing your opiate receptors. Then being a weaker opiate, it would then be easier to detox from once over the hydro.
What do you all think of this?

Alot of people do this but if that's the way your thinking then why not go with buprenorphene (suboxone, subutex). It will take your cravings and withdrawls away while you get back on track.Once your ready to come of the bup you can the start a detox with little or no problems......Dave

Well, my reason for not wanting to take buprenorphene is that I dont want to ask my Dr for it. The Darvocet I can obtain, and I know it will at least help some with the hydro WD's. Plus it seems to be a much easier opiate to kick once I am done with the hydro wd'd.

??Ya Know??

I have know a lot of people to use Tramadol to taper off Hydro. That with a little Imodium usually keeps the w/ds in check. Also it is less expensive than most other things you might want to use.

The key though is that you HAVE to stay on a declining usage - no exception!!!!

i have used tramadol, darvocet, and subutex to kick hydros and oxys. before the subutex (buprenorphine) i would use ultracet and darvocet. both were much easier withdrawals, but what took the withdrawals away the most was the subutex, it's a wonderful thing, and thanks to it i'm still clean from oxy's and it's been almost four months now. it's tough but you can do it, don't lose faith! also as someone already mentioned descending dosage is a must on either tramadol or darvocet. Good luck.

We were somewhere near barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
