Default plz help- home slow release oxycontin withdrawl

I have had chronic pain from endometriosis for years and a few years ago my doctors graduated my pain meds to:
(30mgs AM / 30mgs PM) slow release oxycontin

Shortly after I went to that amount my pain was gone, after a year or 2 of that plus 2 short vacting oxycodone pills and a new
medical treatment for the endometriosis I'm
not in pain.

I want to go off this at home, 5mgs by 5 mgs in case my pain comes back.
I'm now at( 20mgAM/ 25mgs PM )

I've been going down 5mgs every 2 months basically because 1) I don't k ow how to do this and 2) I'm worried about going to fast and throwing up and not being able to take my main amount and getting really Ill and having to go to ER, but I'm Canadian so it's free.

Anyways so I'm desperate to know:
How fast should I be going? Reduction scchedual??

My doctors not helping after asking for help, she thinks I should stay on it, but I need to getoff this ********

Thanks for any help, I'm seriously suffering here, not physically but mentally it's hard to go down kind a day on day off etc for like 2 months,
Week 1: don't take for 4 days day on day off
Week 2: don't take for 4 days but 2 of those days in a row

Etc ... This takes like 2 months and mentally I get so out of it I hate it!!!!

Thanks for any help

I'm not trying to get you down, but OxyContin, in my opinion, is one of the worst legal medications to quit. I did it myself without being admitted to any treatment facility but you're going to need a few other scripts to help. You're at a low dose, so if you can take 3 days off normal life to lay in bed and/or the tub and have access to benzodiazepines (Valium, Klonopin, Xanax, etc.) it shouldn't be too uncomfortable to cut out the Oxy cold turkey.

I found laying in bed for the first day or two while taking 1 benzo of your choice once every 4 hours or so kept the restless legs - the worst side effect in my opinion - at bay. A hot bath also helps to calm your legs. At night, take 2-3 to help you sleep. I found the benzos work better than Ambien CR but I didn't try any other sleep aid.

After the restless legs have calmed down and the nausea is tolerable, try to get up and move a bit. Even walking for a few minutes outside can work wonders.

I personally never tested it but I have heard trying to wean Oxy is tough. I just did it cold turkey from 300mg a day. It was hell but I survived. Trust me, you won't ever want to go back, either!

Good luck with whatever you choose and post back.
