Default painkiller addiction and withdrawl

I go to a pain management clinic and IN 6 months they've uped me to oxcycodone 10/325, 4 times a day, soma 350, 3 times a day, phenegern25, 2 times a day, and valium 10, 2 times a day. Although they definately help me move and care for my kids, etc., my husband finds my hiding places and takes my meds.
I am currently out and in withdrawls. IF I call the pain management place, I'll be discharged. How do I get through these withdrawls and how lond do they last?
Please help!!!!

How long have you been taking them? Withdrawl is different for each individual but I can tell you that after your first few days you will feel alot better! I went cold turkey and I was physically better after about 6 days. I know it seems like a long time now but just take it one hour at a time and when your hurting bad take it one min at a time. Good luck!

Not so clueless,

Can someone please help me? I have just realized that I have a severe addiction to percocet and tyl 3 for the past 2 yrs. I take appr. anywhere from 5 percocet (all at once) to 15 a day...and throw in there some tyl 3. i am a single mom and do have a life that is somewhat very together on the outside but on the inside I have been trying to cover up so much pain that I have fallen apart. I NEED to stop for so many reasons. I somehow just quit smoking and need to quit the narcotics too. I wanted to tell my doctor, that I need some help with the withdrawl, but noone knows, I get the percs from a friend, and there are legal reasons that I cant go get help . Someone pls tell me how long does it take for the narcotic to leave your body? How long will it take for me to be clean? What kind of withdrawl should I excpect? DO you think my liver and kidneys are shot? I have gone 2 days sometimes without taking anything but havent had any major withdrawls, is that normal? I need help....im out of control and feel lost....

It isn't an easy thing to do, but since you were able to quit smoking you must have some self control and determination.

Alot of people have used Tramadol to help taper off of stronger medications (plus it is much less expensive) as it helps with the w/d (and some Imodium in case you have some intestinal distress). After a few weeks you should be through any physical w/ds and then can stop the Tramadol. But no matter what you'll need to keep that determination to get you through it.

Moonbaby & Helpmoi,
If there is one thing I am positive about is this: you are not alone. This feeling of isolation goes hand in hand with addiction. When we hide our addiction, we find it is easiest to hide from others.

The toughest step is that step you take when you realize you have a problem to doing something about it. It took me over a year before I was able to do that. My addictive voice had me in a pretty tight grip and would do anything to keep me abusing my drug of choice, hydrocodone.

I am taking Suboxone since early November ('05) to fight my addiction. I also have friends in recovery that have beaten the pill habit going cold turkey, as well as, inpatient detox. It really all comes down to your prior history and what works best for you.

If you want to explore this treatment, visit http://www.suboxone.com/ It is not for everyone, but it has helped many. Please feel free to contact me or post any questions. Just remember, you are not alone.

Be well,
Dixie

to those of you out there trying to quit, I know it seems hopless but If I did it anyone can[:I]It took me 7 months to taper down to 10mg of oxycodone per day. I'm on day three of no opiets and I feel fine. I still need a sleep aid at night but thats it. I was up to 100mg a day. I was addicted for 3 years. I know how scary it is. Find an addiction specialist in your area and enlist his/her help. That is how I did it. You can do it. If you want to email me you can. ginafl2@clearwire.net
