| | I have been on Suboxone since Jan 25. I am taking 1/4 of a pill once a day. Can I quit cold turkey on such a low dose or does anyone have advice on how best to taper?? |

| | Hey Jax and Welcome!! I am not good with the sub topic but we do have NYMommy who weaned down on it and then jumped off. I'm not sure what dose she was on when she quit and wouldn't want to give you the wrong information. How long have you been on it? I'm very happy you found us. Our forum has slowed down a bit lately so please be patient. We do still read and if new people come on one of us try to get with them. One thing I can confirm is NY did it!! So it can be done. I will keep you in my prayers as I do every single person on this forum. We are or have been in the same boat and even though I've been clean for almost 4 mos. the memory will never fade. I wish you well. Stay in touch... Hey everyone... I'm here in NJ and just wanted to drop a quick line to say HEY!! And keep up the good work!!! Have a GREAT NIGHT and DAY tomorrow!!! My assignment here is going much better than I expected as everyone is quite receptive and that always helps. LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Muah!

Push past those! You can and will get through it. Don't take them. Every time you refuse... You win... Don't let it control you. You control it.... Say, "Not today." | | hi everyone! Hey,
Sorry I have been m.i.a, I raced on Saturday, and i was rocking! I was keeping up with the pro women racers, then, dammit, i fell at high speed, taking chances, trying to stay with the big dogs. I mangled my hand, rolled down the hill, end over end several times, had to be taken out by the medics. Four hours later, I went to the clinic to see if it was broken, and,it wasnt!yay me! i cannot hold my bike handles, or anything for that matter, but am taking ibuprofen, (not reaaly spposed to, but it is better than the alternative). I still hate the pills, its official!
I wish i could stay and post to you all, but it is really hard with one hand. I am reading your posts, so keep writing!
Stoph, glad you are here.

| | Thanks for the support Thanks for the reply and encouragement. I have been on since the end of January and I am really taking so very little but when I read some of the stories it's frightening so I was just curious to see if that since my dose is so low maybe it won't be as bad.......Thanks again for the info |

| | good morning! Hey there everyone! Hope you all are off to another great, pill-free day. I am in the west and it is looking to be another warm day.
By the way, Rorvan, that story you told about the little girl, was really sad. I cant believe how resiliant little kids are. I hope she makes friends soon.
Stoph, I forgot to say that I didnt recognize that aussie phrase you used....I think my friends have been too easy on me, and need to teach me more aussie slang! I hope you and the bebe are having great bonding time.....that is what we call it when you are looking back in retrospect, while you are doing it, I beleive we call it collic. LOL! How are you doing with the pills? It sounded like you were doing a good, steady job of getting further away from them. Accidents really test your will power. I hate pain. It is hard to just deal with this balloon of a hand of mine without a nice relief.
Well, all, write as soon as you can, I love our dialogue when it actually happens.

| | Stoph hey I just found out what fair dinkum, (did I just say that correctly?) means. My best friend, (aussie), just explained. I grew up in Hawaii and we spoke English, but we had a ton of slang expressions, and people wouldnt even know you were speaking English if you got in to it! I love it though, so keep chatting!
Man, I am so bummed about my hand, I cant even go out for a ride yet. I did take off the brace, and am using my hand much more, so maybe tomorrow. I cant stand training indoors when it is so lovely outside. I am also starting to feel neck, rib cartilage and nasty contusion pains today. 4 days out.
Sorry to ramble on about my stupid accident, but I thought I would keep this party going by talking to myself.
Anybody there today?

hey patmamma, that little girl really inspires me to not complain so much..i do tend to do that,lol..so when i see what shes going through reminds me that i dont have it so bad right now..im staying strong in my fight against the pills,i have a nice home, car and a beautiful child..not to mention me and hubby just celebrated 15 years together..really stressed how important it is to be grateful for what u have and not to take anything/anyone for granted..also,the fact that my mom died at 6 made me feel a lil closer to her, felt i could really relate to her..but her resiliance was amazing..she seems like she is starting to make friends more.that makes me happy.. |

| | Dear Doggy
I went threw the same thing. I went to a methadone clinic (not just for Heroin). They can give you a 30 day detox or long term maintenance. I now see a painmanagement specialist. I am long term, it works for me. There are new simular meds as well as rapid detox.
Good Luck

| | good morning! Hey Everyone!
Rorvan, I am so happy to hear about that little girl. I guess you are right, count your blessings. I just found out yesterday that I did break my finger, and I am going to a specialist today to find out about this bruising that goes down my wrist, starting with my thumb/palm area. The bruising is so bad, ( and so is the pain)< that we think it is a torn ligament. I am sad, but just more concerned. Funny thing is that when you compare the first x-ray to the second, I actually have knocked the bone in my finger back in to place just using it, etc, it reminds me of a remidy from the days on the farm.
I am going to go, but to all you new faces, hello, I am looking forward to meeting all of you, to all those old friends, have a great day!

| | Gettn ready to quit! I stumbled upon your forum by accident and it has been a great inspiration to me...I have had chronic back pain for almost 3 years now. I have been taking hydrocodone and have slowly but surely became dependent. I find myself taking the medicine even if I am not in pain. I think sometimes for the Euphoric effects I get. I never considered myself to have an addictive personality, but I have come to the conclusion that I need to stop taking them. I am scared to quit is the bottom line. I have no health insurance and no one knows of my addiction, I have gradually moved up to about 10 a day. I can go with as little as 3 or 4 but find myself ill, especially if I am in pain. I cannot go to a rehab place and don't even want to tell my doctor. I want to quit on my own, I am a strong willed person at times, but I think I will need help with this. I guess I really just want to know if any of you can give me some ideas of things to try that are herbal, otc, just any suggestions to help me hide the withdrawals so only I will know whats going on...I saw where there were some herbal suggestions, please let me know of where I can go to on the internet to find them.....Thanks |

| | Forget herbal remedies, they don't work in my opinion. You need to wean down slowly. If you know you can drop to 5 a day without any trouble then start there.Stay there for at least 2 weeks then drop to 4 a day and go 2 weeks again.Keep doin that until you've gone a couple weeks at just 1 hydrocodone a day then stop.....Good luck.....Dave |

| | Where is everybody Hi Everyone. I haven't been on here much in the last several months due to some external forces. It was dangerous for me to post on here for a while is the bottom line, and I don't want to go into details. It is safe now though, and I celebrated 19 months clean. I hope everybody is doing well and finding inspiration to stay clean. For me, the best way to stay clean has been helping others stay clean and helping friends through issues. Service to others takes me away from myself and enables me to give back what was freely given to me.
Good luck!
Chrish

I have been wicked busy with work and with preparing for my son's graduation next week. I have also been sick. I am through the worst of that, but still feeling kind of puny. Praying everyone is well. Blessings!

| | Hey all any body in her that remembers me? Baby steps I believe you and I talked last time I was here.
Just checking on everyone. I am doing well and have had no problems keeping of the painkillers. I am still using the suboxone, but I am soon to taper down the dose to hopefully eventually be off it all!!!!!!!!!! But I am taking that very very slowly. My theripist and Doc are great and working with me to meet my goals at my pace. I LOVE THAT!!!
I am in the process of trying to help a close friend to kick the habit but he threw a curve ball at me by stating he probably couldnt mix sub with zoloft. Im going to ask my doc about later in the week, but does anyone here know?

Originally Posted by godzgurl72 | "Not to scare you" but for me no combos would make it any easier. I mostly just became dizzy and nauseated trying to find the right mix. Some drugs like these will help but probably very little depending on the severity of your addiction or abuse. I know you don't want to go into details, but the severity and the amount of time you will be in w/d's depends on the amount you have been taking and the length of time you have been using.
Be very careful godzgurl mixing or taking to many pills and or over the counters, it could make you feel worse not to mention you could od not knowing it, thinking its the w/d symptoms. (It could Happen)
This mix was the best to ease my symptoms in one of my many many attempts to detox myself.
Start by Taking ONLY ONE of something to relax your muscles, wait an hour, then take ONLY ONE of something to calm your nerves. Fight it for at least the recommended time for the script!, then repeat. During the day or night take the recommended dosage of Lotramide (anti-diarrhea). Lotramide has a very small amount of an opiate derivative (a secret that not many people are aware of, this was told to me by a chemist). At night take the recommended dose of a sleep aid. (This will be the hardest part of the w/d's but trust me stick to it and eventualy you will get sleep it might take days and it may seem like little naps for a while but suddenly your body will give in and you will sleep)
Most importantly take a multivitamin (as directed) and an additional dose of B12 as directed daily. Drink lots of clear fluids urinate as frequently as possible.
If you start shaking or twitching in the legs or elswere, if you are physically able jog in place to get you heart rate up then relax continue this process to try and loosen the muscles in your legs.
If you need more help there are medical ways that you can detox that are less painful and very much increase the chances of staying of the pills. Suboxone is working for me and there are even meds out there now to help with the twitching, leg burning etc....
Dont give up hit us back on this post WE WILL HELP YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Say lots of prayers and stay in touch on this thread. I will pray for you Godzgirl. I feel it in my heart god will soon heal you!!!!!!

| | Thank you for the quick response and your input. I have been on Lortab for about 2 years but just recently it became out of control. I take (9-12) 7.5 Lortabs. I am only supposed to be taking 3 a day. I don't have a problem at night with sleeping. I do still have some Lortab so I was going to try to taper down pretty fast as I don't have that many. I can get more, but I think if I get more then I won't have the courage to stop. I take it legitimately for pain but do to how much I am taking right now. I don't know what kind of pain I really am in.
You guys that have conquered this thing have my highest regards.
I will keep praying and keep you all in my prayers. I have been lurking on this site for a few weeks now, just finally mustered up the courage to post. |
