KD. That is a decent dose of perks to w/d cold turkey from. I was taking that much on the weekends when I quit but not during the week..."only" about 60 mg on average...sometimes more.. I really hope you don't have the depression/emotional tidal wave that come with detoxing.. Just know that you are not going crazy, that it is normal... I mean think about it.. all those REAL feelings... hurt, grief, pain (emotional and physical), anger etc.. that for so long have been muted by the drugs are suddenly there, in your face.. REAL, LOUD AND CLEAR. If you used the drugs to deal with those kind of things then it may be difficult.. if you are otherwise a happy, well adjusted girl then you may have an easier time. But even if that is the case, it is natural to feel a little sad. I felt like I had lost my closest friend.. like Linus losing his blanket. It's scary for sure but you have great resolve and I am sure you will continue to do great. Keep us posted. |

I am actually a male lol but i on my 50th hour and 12 mins almost there I have a ver strong will when I actually know I need to use it, and this is when I have to use it. Ill get through this and never look back. And when I get my surgery I will take what I have to and do it all over again. Im strong willed like that, maybe its just I realize im young (25) and have alot to live for. |

OSAGEWOMAN thanks for the welcome. I thought I was on my way to freedom unitl last night at3:00 am after 2 xanax i woke up and had to take a lorecet. Only way I could sleep. I was glad to get to sleep but upset with myself when I woke up in"failure" mode .. This is harder thatn i thought. |

congrates, keep up the good work, it will get better i'm very proud of you now your getting over the worst i mean the very worsed of it, today i prayed at my NA meetinmg for all that sre still going through a tough time, we usually have a moment of silence and i prayed for you and a couple of other ppl here that are getting better , on the road to recovery and that are still having a hard time quitting.
we read from the NA book tonight and it was a bout a guy back in the '60's that was hooked on dope and all of the hard drugs you can think of but what really got me is that a special person came into his life and changed it forever and that person happen to be his sponser, she took him in rent free up until the day she died ,she had 18 years clean, and this guy was a mess he was shooting dope on his wedding night and spent it on Venice beach in so cali,what a way to spend your wedding night , but NA and his sponser saved his life.
now that i board yall to death i just figured id share that with yall , and that there is hope there is light at the end of the tunnel
NA is such a great support i recommend it.
anyway kd , what kind of surgery ru having if you dont mind me asking? you know when you have surgery they usually give you somethin pre opt like valium or xananx to relax you and then they put you under anastesia or are you getting a local?

Mort again thank you very much for your support and espcially your prayers. Only 12 hours left till I hit 72 hours since I last took a pill. And the best thing about it is that last night, I was around them. My friends take them, a few for recreational, and a few for back pain, but the point is I didnt try and eat one I stayed very strong. I even told everyone about this. They are actually my fraternity brothers. Anyway, I am getting a microdiskectomy and decompression on some herniated disks and to open up some spinal stenosis of my canal. Its not gonna be fun, I am always in pain, but just fighting it naturally now. If I hurt I take advil or alive, Fawk the addiction pills for pain loooool again thank you |

thats great news! wow thats major back surgery your having i commend you for not wanting to take any opiates after surgery, but you will have some major pain what are you gonna do?
that was very stronge of you to refuse any perks especially if your fertanity brothers are taking them, and recrationaly, i know you saisd that some are taking them for back pain but do they have a legit script? as they say in NA you should stay away from ppl that are currently using but i think in your case you are already doing that and i think thats fantasic! you only have a little while to go and the worst will be over if it hasnt already. keep up the good work when i go to my NA meeting tonight i'll say a prayer for you.

Thank you so much for your prayers mort, I just woke up again and have 8 horus left but you know what? Other then my back pain and a little groggyness from the ambiene, I think the W/D is gone. Maybe a tad bit in my stomach but that could be that my dumbass smoked a few cigs last night to try and ease the pain. All is good and I think I may be over it or very close to. As for pain with my surgery, well if needed ill take the perks but now I know I can do it. The important thing about me doing it this time is the face that I know I have the will power to do it. If I am forced to do it again because of the surgery, I have it in my mind that iv done it before and I can do it again, Just like how I can smoke cigs once in a while and never become a smoker again because I quit once and I know I wont let myself get addicted again. I am a 25 year old woman with two very young children. I began taking pain pills after my first c section in December of 2004. I became addicted months later after I had the surgery and ran into to osomeone who did them. I started buying them and a month later I found out I was pregnant again. I quit taking them up until I recently had a csection. In 11 weeks I have a full blown addiction to lorcets. I take between 12 and 18 a day and I have not had one in 29 hours. I am determined to quit these evil pills, for the sake of my family. My husband does not know and cannot know. I feel like hell right now. Shakes, cold and hot flashed, creepy crawlings, multiple bathroom visits, nausea. Will this ever get better. I honestly don't know how much longer I can take this. Help

hi lizaowen,It will get better,get some imodium that helps alot abt. the bathrm. issue,also,some comfort meds for a few days either zaxan or valium,klonipin,somas help w/ the muscle pain youve went this long the worst will be over in a couple of days,If you really cant do it ,try to get the sub.treatment,but It seems you are very brave and have a strong will!!! I couldnt of did it ,I tried to quit for almost 24hrs. and couldnt stand it. will keep you in my prayers.. its good to hear from you! im glad your doing well, how do you like AA? so far? i'm so glad you are going do you like it? how do you feel since you cut down on the sub? a little more energy? i really missed ya , i was getting worried but i understand that you werent feeling well to get on the pooter. let me know what you think of NA when you decide to go. I had a meeting tonight but i was just to tired to go and i woke up late that meth really makes me tired.
Patmomma~ i'm so glad youre feeling better , i can only imagine how it feels to take pills after you have been off them just thinking about them makes my stomach turn [xx(] but i know that mouth pain is horrible i think its one of the worst, i'd rather go through labor then have mouth pain. at least you can have an epidural and the end is very rewarding. anyway dont be hard on yourself because you took a pill its better to be out of pain then to be in pain , for the moment you'll get back in track gareteed.

Ok so its been 73 hours since I last took a pill, Im guessing sometime around 2 am it will be 72 hours since I last had any effects of the perks. I only have slight body tension, and believe it or not the runs just started today for me (embarrased to say that). I actually played a nice no limit hold em tournament and took second today, so concentration is getting much better. I do feel as though I have developed some depression. Now this could either be depression or the fact that life can be boring without perks. Although I was taking them for pain, they did uplift my mood and made me a social butterfly. How long does this depression last?? I was only using for about a year and a half but at the end, roughly last 2 weeks I was using up to 150 mgs a day. Does it stay long?? I hope not. |

I would say the depression might last a couple of weeks.. that is what it did for me anyway.
Hope everyone is well. Yeah moricia I was going to go shopping tomorrow and buy myself a diamond bracelet but I am still feeling horrible. I really believe somehow it is connected to the sub but I'm not positive. Guess I'll postpone the shopping expedition. Want to be in a good frame of mind to spend some of that money I've been saving! |

Im not so sure that its depression or not now, I was just at the fraternity house messing with the pledges (im the really bad one lol) and I was very engergetic and no depression at all, I think it might have been just being home and very bored, guess ill find out if thats the case in the days to come, well its been 76 hours and going strong never going back to the devil pills, thats why I named them lol |

kd~ congrates, you made it! the depression you'll have is normal, but you dont seem like you'll have to much of a problem, thats what i saying about mental w/d depression is one of the signs of mental w/d but it doesnt last and you said you felt energtic which is a good sign , you'll have your good days and bad days but it seems to me you'll be ok.
i'm so very proud of you , like you said your young and have a long life to live and you are very smart not to get rapped up in addction at such a young age like me , i ve been on pain meds since i was 19 on and off and thats was 16 years ago , the last 4 years and last year got really bad i was eating them like candy i was going to the Er every week to get diladid IV . im mean i do have chronic back pain but everyweek? nah, i didnt need to go EVERY week but i did so i could get my fix. ok enough about me.

KD.. fyi.. i see they ****ed out the card game above, one of which games is hold em. I don't know why they do that, but I know the g word (sports, slots, roulette etc) is also banned. Anyway I love it.. do you play on line or with real people?
Congrats on 3 days.. I am sure the worst is over... Devil pills is the right word. They steal your life and your soul! Of couse if they weren't fun too, none of us would be here. Keep up the good work.
Just curious... are pills big on campus? When I was in college (20 years ago) we pretty much only drank.... maybe smoked some pot .. lsd was around... but never heard of pain pills.. now I hear that pills are everywhere. Is that what you find?
Too bad if that is true... the other things did not seem as addictive by nature. |

Mort and Lisa, thank you so much, your posts gave me more inspiration then you can imagine. Mort thank you for all the complements. These days pill are very big all around. Anywhere you go you can find pills. The nomral joe schmo is not dealing them. Thats what is so hard, you have them at your disposal with a click of the keyboard or ring of the phone. Its bad but at least im out of the game, and for life. Well thank you all again, i just cant get rid of the damn r u n sssssssssssssssssssssssssss that hurts like hell let me tell you lol but nobody wants to hear that, any information for me on that? |

Hi, everyone, and congratulations on staying clean, be it one hour, day or more! Some day, I'll say that, but for now...
No drug test yet, on a 4-day holiday now. Went to see my doc this morning. Guess what? He gave me my very own little scrip for Lortabs so I will have the bottle to show if necessary! [:0] Actually, I told him the truth (basically) and he gave me the scrip PLUS another one! Floricet...didn't know what it was until I got home and came here. Another guess what!!! It's a barbiturate, habit-forming, pain medication!!!! [:0] EEEEEK!!!!! This is such a drug culture! I just smiled and took my little pile of scrips to the pharmacy!!!
I've been reading everyone's updates and I have to admit I don't know how you people going through wd's can even get the energy to get out of bed, drag to the computer and sit down and write something! [xx(] I'd be blowing that off big time!
Anyway, thanks for all the advise! I didn't have to use my friends' pee, and am now legit, so I will write it down when and if I need to!
