I tried Oxycotin for mine and it was like taking a Tic-Tac. Did absolutely nothing for me. I've been on Oxycodone for many years now with great results.

Oxycodone and oxycontin are the same drug, oxycontin is just a time released version...........

That's odd. I've got a chronic back problem, but am on regular percocets. I guess everyone is different because my doc tried Lortab, went up to 10mg then switched to darvocet, and both like taking an aspirin. It did nothing, didn't even put a dent in the pain. The percocet makes the pain manageable so that I can actually work. I'd talk to my doc if I were you and discuss it. It's odd that it would make the pain worse.

The only time I had something like that was when my sacro joint finally popped loose (strain) and I was down for almost a month. The pain killers would kill the pain so that I would try to move around, but when they started to wear off, the pain would be worse than ever. I wonder if yours is something like that, that you're overdoing it before your back is ready?

Oxycodone is the opiate in Percocets, roxicodone ect.The difference between oxycodone and oxycontin is the oxycodone is quick release were oxycontin is a slow release oxycodone. If I remember right a 40mg oxycontin pill works this way. When you first take it you get about 20mgs right away with the other 20 mgs being released over the next 6-12 hrs.I never found any of the contins ie: ms contin (morphine) oxycontin (oxycodone) to last 12 hrs.6-8 hrs was about how long they lasted at least at first.I was also abusing them so I didn't take them right to begin with (stupid idiot that I am).Anyway if you are used to taking percocet and switch to oxycontin you're going to have to give yourself a good month or more for your body to make the adjustments to the new type of release that you're taking. You may even have a headache for the first little while when you switch but it will go away......Good luck........Dave

    Default oxycontin vs oxycodone

i thought oxycodone was generic for percocet. and oxycontin was stronger

my mom had oxycodone for her cancer and on the bottle it said generic for percocet.

oxycontin is also known as "poor man's heroin"

    definitely not the same pills.........
