Default OCD meds and other treatments

Hey all!

I have OCD and pretty severe dysthymic depression. I currently take 80 mg paxil and 1.5 mg Risperdal. They sorta work but not great. My reason to post is I want to ask my psychiatrist to switch up my meds.

I have found through trials on myself that drinking alcohol takes away my OCD thoughts and most of my depression issues. The same is true with taking 15-30 mg of temazepam (benzo), but just doesn't work as well as the alcohol.

I hate drinking and theres the whole addiction potential with too much temazepam. So I am curious are there any prescription drugs out there that I could ask my psychiatrist about that mirror some of the effects of alcohol or temazepam that are reducing my OCD and depressive symptoms?

I don't wanna be drunk I just have noticed it works. Any thoughts anyone???

I currently take 300 mg effexor a day, coupled with seroquel and ativan for anxiety. This is a pretty good coctail. I have been on almost every medication and I would give this a 8/10 for success. Sometimes I get a little depressed but the OCD is a lot better on this than any other drug I've taken before.

Hope this helps

I caution anyone about Effexor. I had severe issues when I switched to my current 'cocktail' Prozac/Wellbutrin/Abilify and Klonopin occasionally for sleep. Drinking and Effexor didnt mix well at all for me.
