| | Nine days off oxycontin, and less pain!!! Like the title says, I have been off oxycontin nine days...my pain is far less than what it was; it was all day, every day. It's such a releif to be feeling better.
I have had dorsal scapular nerve compression for about 3 years, progressively getting worse as far as chronic pain and whithering outlook on life, etc.
Now I am over the withdrawals and there is less back pain now than there was when I was taking it!!! I read that neuropathic pain is caused sometimes by slight withdrawals as pain meds begin to decrease in your system. Also, I have been taking B-complex supplements which I read are good for treating neuropathic pain.
My question...have any of you experienced this | and, did the pain come back? I hope my pain doesnt come back like it was. This is the best I have felt in years. |

Hi Klopper, I have experienced the exact samething I use to wake up and could not straighten my knee out and boy did my back hurt I would head straight for my vicodin before I would do anything. So I am wondering the samething hopefully someone can fill us in.

| | Hi
Addiction causes pain...Its just your body going thru w/d wanting more drugs.
to wards the end of my addiction it didn't matter how much pain meds I took it was never enough...but after my wd and I got clean my pain level went down to where I can take advil for my pain..
and before my legs and my back would always hurt...
So if your having less pain now that is a real good sign..
Have a great day !!!

Addiction in itself is very painful. Every four hours or so we start going into w/d and it adds to the normal pain we would feel from our illness/injury.
What you have described happens to a huge % of people who stop RX pain meds. Consider this a blessing, shows even a stronger likelihood for success for you as far as staying clean longterm goes. God bless.

| | I experienced a similar thing, since stopping the pain meds I have had less pain overall. I did experience some acute localized pain a few times but generally I feel so much better now it seems that the majority of pain I did have is gone for the moment.
My perceptions have changed.....my attitudes and behavior have followed that change for the better. It's so nice to really feel good.
Keep it up, it gets better!!!!

| | Yes, it does feel good!
I had the tension headache from hell up the back of my head today. But other than that, I have felt great. What an unexpected paridoxical effect!
Good luck to you too. |

| | This is something I tell people all the time, many can't believe it can be true, surprising isn't it? It seems the more pills you take, the greater the pain is. I went from a pain scale of 8-9 down to a 1. You know sometimes our bodies heal while in the process of taking narcs, or the nerves move out of the way, lots of different factors, some of the pain is just in our minds, there's a lot of factors. I do know it works, not for everybody of course.
That's great Klopper. |

| | Thanks CM,
I asked for words of wisdom from you a few days ago and you said you probably didnt have any. But you really did. I asked because I knew you would be blunt. Your blunt questions and statements made me ponder my situation more. I dont recall them word for word, but I do remember the impact. |

| | Thank you both.
The oxy thing is still going great. I am just at an anxiety bridge I must cross now. I used a lot of my serax to get thru the oxy withdrawals and i have been out for a week or so.
I am thinking of asking for Xanax or something like that. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
