So my panic attacks have been getting increasingly worse. I've had them for years, but was prescribed
Prozac for both anxiety and depression. About 6 months ago, I decided to get off of it after 3 years because I didn't think I needed it anymore.
My anxiety started getting horrible about 2 months ago. I started not being able to go out, and would sometimes have to leave right in the middle of things. My doctor had prescribed me
xanax about 5 months beforehand, and I found myself having to take more and more of them. Though I stayed on the .25 mgs, I would have to take about 2 or 3 a day, which is a big increase from only 1 or 2 a week.
So I go back to my doctor, because I want something that will stabilize me. Something I can take every day at the same time to get things consistent. He prescribes me
Paxil, which he says is marketed moreso for anxiety than depression, though it works for both. I've been taking it for about a week now, and my panic attacks are getting worse!! When I take xanax, it doesn't help at all, and I think it might be making them worse as well. I made sure that I asked my doctor if it was okay to take both, and he said yes.
Does Paxil cancel out Xanax? Should I stop taking the xanax when I go out and see if it makes it better? If this is just a side effect of Paxil, how long does it last?
I'm going back to my doctor soon, but I need help now.
