Default New & need help! Norco addict

Hi,
My story is like many of yours, I am addicted to painkillers, Norco is my drug of choice. I take around 20 per day and I need and want to stop so bad it hurts! My life has turned upside down since these pills took hold of me its sad to see this is what my life has become. People around me tell me I am not the same, fun person I used to be and that hurts more than anything. I have become paranoid and always worried about when I get paid so I can order more pills online. My sister confronted me the other week and started crying that she knew and wanted to help me so bad, I broke down and admitted it to her. She wanted to send me to a rehab center but without insurance its kinda hard so I have a plan to give her my pills and she will be only give me a certain amount each day till I am down to only 1 or 2 per day then just stop cold turkey. I am also going to go to NA meetings as soon as I can. I want to know what is the best way to wean off of 20 pills? Should I have her give me 15 or is that too low to start? Should I take the 15 for 3 days then lower it by 2? If someone could help me I would so appreciate it, I want to start this tomorrow.
Bless you all!

I went through the same situation several months ago, so I know how you're feeling. At first it was hell...I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn't sit still. I was always nervous, always cold, always sweating, and I'd wake up almost every night soaked. I stopped cold turkey though, and I found that exercising worked VERY well and made me feel human again. Working out releases endorphins in your brain, which are your body's natural painkillers, and they bond to your opiate receptors just like Norco/Vicodin/etc does. But hang in there, just take it one day at a time. Do ANYTHING you can to get your mind off the fact that you're in withdrawal...play a video game, read a book, go see a movie, just do SOMETHING to keep your mind distracted. Also, tramadol can act as a good way to stave off serious withdrawal symptoms, and it's addiction potential is extremely low; I was prescribed tramadol for migraines for over a year, and I never once experienced any sort of withdrawal.
