Default New to forum! pregnant and need advice

I just joined and am looking for support to quit vike's. I have been addicted for almost 2 years now. I just found out that I am pregnant about a month ago so that was a shell shock (was on BC(go figure..)) and am desperate to quit. I have tried several times on my own but only make it about 2 days before I feel so ****py I give up. I will be finding a doc to see about the risks/benefits of the suboxone treatment while pregnant. I have looked into it and no studies done so far to confirm or deny risks to fetus. I would love to know if anyone has heard anything or been in the same situation. I am scared about detoxing while pregnant I dont know what the drugs will do. But I am more scared to deliver an addicted baby or hurt or possibly lose my baby while im pregnant cause I cant stop taking pills on my own. Any advice or just plain ole support would be great. I am desperatly in need of both. thanks everyone! and I will be a regular poster on here. I give as much as I recive... So many of yall's postings about being clean has really boosted my spirits about being able to quit just for the hour I have been on the puter looking at posts. Thanks! for the indirect help

Hey. Good luck on your pregnancy. I know you must be going through a rough time. I had been taking pain meds for 2 yrs as well & i know of the horrible withdrawals. So many times I had tried to just stop taking them cold turkey & so many times I would get right back on em to stop the withdrawals. Its a nightmare. I feel like i've just messed up my life so badly. Now, physicall I am doing okay..but mentally & emotionaly i still have those ups & downs.
I just started taking Suboxone about 10 days ago & it's helping. But with you being pregnant...thats totally different. I think you should talk to someone ASAP.

I have a friend who what on ice or crystal meth for 3 yrs. She was very much addicted. She lost a lot of weight, had sores all over her, would sleep for days at a time...Then she got pregnant which was when she was still using drugs. She quit cold turkey. She felt awful (from the withdrawals & from the pregnancy) but after a few months..she gained alot of weight & was doing good. I know that crystal meth & pain meds have different withdrawals & whatnot. She had the baby in March, a little girl named Lyric & the baby is very healthy. There were no problems or complications from her drug use early on in the pregnancy. My friend has been clean since..she has not used any drugs since giving birth.

I am assuming you are about 2 months pregnant right? You need to find a doctor ASAP. Go to the Suboxone.com website & find a doctor on there. Even if he doesn't prescribe you suboxone, at least he will have the experience with pain pill addiction & will know more than a regular doctor about addiction, withdrawals, etc.

I found my doctor off of the website & he was really nice..didnt make me feel bad or ashamed bc of my addiction. Just having a nice & understanding doctor who wants to help me....that really makes a difference. I think if you find a doctor that treats addiction he/she will want to help you the same way & not make you feel bad or ashamed. The hardest part was admitting there is a problem (which you are doing right now) then calling & making the appoitment wasn't so bad once I found someone to go to.

Good luck! Make that appoitment!!
