Default Need semi-expert advice on diarrhea

    Hey folks,

Been a bit since I have posted, just living day by day hoping things will improve. For those who dont know, I cold turkey detoxed off methadone in July. Since then, I have had the usual symptoms, which all have subsided save the RLS and diarrhea.

Went to the doctor at my 60 day mark, as I was still suffering diarrhea from the opiate withdrawal. Im almost 3 months into this now, and am starting to wonder if im going to be dealing with this for a long time. Im thinking chronic diarrhea, Crohns disease? Anybody have any experience personally or know of such things?

Im just worried that the methadone has permanently taken a tole on my body. Doc has had me taking random medicines to try and help, but nothing has. He gave me some Cholestyrimine, i think is how its spelled. Supposed to bind up your stomache acids and promote more healthy stool. I dont know. Im lost here. Im uninsured, so seeking specialist medical care is my last option. This is like, my 3rd thread on such a subject, so hoping somebody has some advice. Thanks,

    Dopesick

Someone once posted this idea when i was going through something similar during detox, only not nearly after 3 months, more like 3 weeks.

Anyway, try eating Tortilla chips. Really helped.

    Thanks.

I understand the best thing would be to see a specialist, but was just hoping that somebody out there, long time pain patient, abuser, whatever, has gone through this. Iv heard of methadone completely wreaking havoc on ones internals, but i didnt anticipate such a dramatic detox.

    Thanks

I swear I thought my lovely days in the loo would never go away. I was on suboxone and had a nasty back injury that put me right back on vicodin. The sub withdrawal was the diarhea for about two months. It was horrible. Now I know immodium really does work, try that.

immodium helped me in my early days but i cant help but think there is something else going on dope... its been a long time for you, most dont have the runs for that long. even coming off methadone. (and you know that i did)

i hope you can find something to help. what about the er. ? just a thought.
