Default My Friend

Hello Everyone,
I am writing and desperately seeking advice from anyone who has time to write. I fell in love with someone who I think is addicted to pain killers. We have only been together for a short period of time but that never matters when it's your heart. She has gone from being very happy and giving to VERY VERY withdrawn and hateful at times. I have taken her to every specilist possible the cleveland clinic and two specialist in Cincinnati and they have found nothing. She has had mri's, brain scans, bone scans everything!! Recently I have done some research on pain medicine addiction and it makes sense that this could at least on the problems. She has the shakes, the body temperature changes, stomach problems, severe pain in the hips and back. I read after using the pain killers for so long not only are they no effective, but your pain can actually increase. BOTTOM LINE...HOW DO I KNOW IF SHE IS ADDICTED AND WHAT DO I SAY TO HER? SHE IS COMING HOME TODAY AND I HAVE TWO KIDS AND LOTS OF ANIMALS TO WORRY ABOUT

Have you looked into buprenorphene???It takes away all the cravings and withdrawls.Once she's stable for awhile she can detox with little problems.Remember that if she's been addicted for a number of years then she's going to be depressed because she's not making any endorphins. The buprenorphene will replace the endorphins and will bring her out of the depression within days...good luck..Dave

It sounds to me that could be the problem, coming from a person who has been addicted to methadone which is very powerful pain killer. I was depressed all the time and really didn't care about to much of anything. The shakes, body temp changes and pain in the hips are all symptoms of withdrawal. When she gets those its probaly because she has been off pain killers for a day or two. Does it seem that she is fine for awhile and then the symptoms are their all of a sudden? If I was you I would confront her directly in a non threating manner. Just let her know how much you love her and are thier for her weather it is an addiction problem or anything else. Just like the person before me I would look into Suboxone (buprenorphene) same thing. I have been Suboxone for only a couple days and my whole attitude and mood is night and day. I have no depression what so ever and this drug does not make you high either. Also the nice thing about Suboxone (buprenorphene) is it has another drug in it that if she takes any pain killers while she is taking Suboxone it will block it and might make her sick. But honestly I really believe that once she takes the Suboxone she will snap right out of it, at least I did anyways. Good luck and I hope everything goes very well with the both of you.
