Methadone, Is It Really the Way to Go?

I know if you're struggling w/a drug addiction & really want to get your life back on track, you've got alot of decisions that you need to make. Including wanting to just go through opiate w/draws for the maybe week and a half and deal with it. Or deciding treatment because you dont trust either yourself and/or those around you, & truly believe that you need some structure and rules to be held accountable for. Women need to know though before they consider methadone treatment that your body will go through ALOT of changes that can really tear away your self-esteem. You gain weight, your hormones change somehow-where your complexion gets screwed up, loose sexual drive & most of all u feel like a hermit living in a shell because it truly takes something out of u. Don't get me wrong, I'm still glad I decided to go to the clinic even w/all the cons that I could add to the ones I have already described. But I was able to get the priorities in my life in the order they were suppose to be in from the very beginning.[:I]Before u make any decisions regarding the type of treatment u want to go through, know that it's much easier coming off of lortabs & Oxycontins than coming off a synthetic heroine like methadone. With just the opiates it might take u at the most 2 weeks to w/draw, w/methadone it can take u up to 3months or longer to be completely clean w/out any methadone in your system & no more w/draws or cravings. Please research the treatments & be sure you have someone that will be a rock for u during your detoxing, 1 person is better than none, even if it's someone like me who u have never met before. I'll be your rock if u need me to be because no one understands it more than someone who has been down that road and finally made it back to where they should've all along![:I]No one has to worry about me judging u because, I've been judged my whole life & it's something I will never do to another. Can I ask what was your dose while you were on Methadone? Did you taper or just "jump" off at your full dose?

I agree methadone is a bunch of bullsh*t and so is the clinic.I jumped off of 100mgs of methadone on x mas eve this past year and I'm still alive.Cold turkey off of methadone ain't that bad.

Methadone is for the devil.I came off of 60mg.Cold turkey,I mean I don't feel the best but I can function.Monday will have been 2wks since I last dosed.I took meth for over a year.to be honest besides the cold sweats,wanting 2 sleep, and the alien wanting 2 come out my stomache.I really don't feel that bad.I was hooked on the little K4s. They are evil ,but I think I would have been better off coming off them cold turkey than being a dumb*** and going to the clinic.I thank god that I have made it this far. Life does get better with out the Methadone.I actually feel normal,can't say I have said that in a real long time. but I would not go back 2 the clinic. That is the worst thing any one could do, but if u was court ordered I would.
