I really need some advice from people who have been through this. I have been suffering from pain for seven years now and in that time became physically addicted to painkillers. I cannot find a doctor that is willing to help me. it's funny how they have no problem handing over drugs to 18 year olds but then when once they become chemically addicted they won't help you anymore!! anyway, I was put on methadone two years ago because i got pregnant with my first baby. i was on 25 mg. then once i had him i tried weaning and i got down to 10 mg and got pregnant again. I have abdomanal pain so when pregnant pain intensifies!!! I had my 2nd child almost 4 months ago and have weaned myself from 25mg to just 5 mg taking half two times per day. i am struggling...having all the withdrawal symptoms and trying to take care of my family. I have heard all about suboxone and how it can help withdrawals. however, i can not find a doctor within my network that will help me. the one doctor that i my insurance covers told me he wasn't going to put me on suboxone because i have real pain!!! I am ready to face my pain and find other alternatives for that. shouldn't i be the one to decide whether i want to die at 45 from liver failure??? so, I am on my last bottle of methadone..i have about 4 to 6 wks maybe left. is there anything out there that can help me get through this without having to go out and give a doctor 500 dollars to just put me on something else that i will eventually have to wean off of? Does anyone know about scullcap..the herb that supposedly helps withdrawals? any other home remedies..any program i could follow..i can't cut my pills any further down then what i already have. has anyone weaned off methadone on their own and was able to go slowly but fast enough and not suffer...will i reach a certain point where my withdrawals won't be that bad. i am absolutely positively ready to come off medicine...i wish i could just check myself in somewhere but i have no place for my kids. last, i had a friend who was addicted to heroin..i lost touch with her..but she told me years ago that when she needed to get off herioin a doctor out in oregon or cali gave her and her bf a pill that knocked them out for the withdrawals? has anyone ever heard of something like this? are there any other medicines..over counter..or perscription..or herbal...home remedies..anything???? to help my withdrawals??? please i am so desperate and i am only 26 years old..an athlete..and a single mama of two..i have been to at least 100 doctors over the years including cleveland clinic a few times...there is no hope to find my pain..but i would rather face my pain then face leaving my kids with no mom because i know i will die young if i don't get off this ********.. thanks so much for your time and i apologize for the length!!!
