Methadone ADvice PLS HELP!! Advice on weaning

OK. I have been on painkillers for 4 yrs , ive been snorting them at that . I decided to get me a few methadone pills , about 15 10MG pills to try to get off the painkillers but not get addicted to the methadone . I bought about a weeks worth . Ok , heres my question . I started 2 days ago . The first day I took 20 MG . Yesterday i took 35 MGS . ANd today i took 30 MG . Im so scared ill go thru painfull withdrawls if i go any further with this drug . So i have about 8 left . Can someone with experience pls tell me the best way to wean myself off this 3 day methadone ride that ive been on? Should i stop now? If i stop now i think ill get sick , so should i take 20 to tomorrow and then 10 then 5 etc etc? PLS PLS PLS HELP . Im frightened.

Keep weaning down slowly,the slower you wean the easier it is to stop.If this doesn't work you should really see a suboxone doctor.Methadone is way to strong for you and should be overseen by a doctor.I understand your trying to quit but after 4 years your probably going to need medical help.If you end you end up going back to abusing then try www.suboxone.com and there you will find a doctor locator.Get a list of doctors in your area and start phoning for an appointment.This drug is helping thousands of addicts get clean.Good luck to you......Dave

I must have confused everyone . I havent been on methadone for 4 years . Ive been on lortabs for 4 years . I had bought 10 methadone pills to try to get off the lortabs . I took them for a week and was scared that i would withdrawl from them . Basically i need to know how long you have to take methadone before your body withdrawls from them. Thanks

i was on methadone 4 a year pending charges. it got me off the pills and with the help of a 12 step prog.. i learned some tools 2 help me stay clean.my getting probation from those charges didnt work out.i did a 10 day withdrawl(in jail)from160mg of methadone.the way they did it was 2 cut my dose in half each day i.e.50 mg the first day,25mgs the second day,and 12.5 the third.....4 me and only 4 me this worked,i was basically ok untill they stopped the meds completely,after that i had major bone pain in my legs(ibuprofen will help this).your doing the right thing, keep your docs # close in case u get in a bind.lizzie

I am sorry your down this path...you will go through withdrawal, but won't die...I would get to a caring Physician Asst or CNP or dr. and get on some clonodine patches or catapress patches. They come in 0.1 0.2 and 0.3 mg patches. ..also come in pills. unfortuneately, due to your abuse, diazapam/valium is also the drug of choice for w/d symptoms from hydro...methadone...methadone is lousey pain killer..and go with the clonodine and/or diazapam..but be careful about addiction to the latter NOT the former. start drinking TONS of water, or warm water with organic lemon in it. Go to your health food store for colon detox natural herbs Smart Clean is good. it will get the toxins out of your colon and help you get clean. Get a support person to be accountable to or this is ALL FOR Naught...you need accountability, and support. So if your poor ...got to the ER. If your not poor, go to the ER if you want off now. They can give your the rXs for clonodine and/or diazapam. God bless you vics.

Since you're already addicted to lortab the methadone will just prolong the inevitable.You only have 10 methadone pills,so there's no chance of getting addict there.The thing is you're already addicted to an opiate.If you wean down slowly you can lessen the withdrawls quite abit.Good luck to you........Dave
