Methadone 10mg

Hi, I have been on Oxycodone for mths n I just went to a new Doc n he put me on OpanaER 20mg. He said he doesnt write scrip for Oxy's on new patients.. So I went to my pharmacy to get OpanaER and they said it would be $700, so of course I didnt get it.. Y, cuz its too damn HIGH! So now the doc wrote me a scrip for Methadone 10mg's 2x's a day.. And yes I do have ins but its a discounted rate. I dont have co pay on meds.

So, Isnt this for people who needs help getting off of opiates or morphine? Why do think he would put me on this when he did give me scrip for Opana?? Also what other longer releases are out there. He says Oxycodones are not working for me. Since it only works for 2 hrs or so for me. Now, I know there is Oxycontins, which I would want to stay away from. Just cuz, I hear horrible stories.

Any advise would be great!

I was just talking about this the other day with a friend, he told me that methadone was used for a certain type of pain ( I don't remember what ) but 10mg twice daily isn't bad, the opana from what I understand is a terrible drug, a combo of morphine and oxy isn't it? I was hospitalized for oxycontin detox and they did a methadone taper on me, it was 4 days from 40mg/30/20/10 and to be honest I enjoyed it. Worked wonders for my pain, each dose lasted almost all day, if not all day I'm not sure they gave it to me every 12 hours, but during the 12 hours I never felt like I needed more like oxycodone. oxycodone I felt like I needed more every 2 hours.

As far as time released painkillers go it's pretty limited. Morphine oxycontin opana and methadone as far as I know, methadone being the best in my opinion, but everyone is different
