To make a very long story short, I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety and panic attacks along with depression. I had an appointment with a new physciatrist yesterday. I have been taking Effexor XR 150mg in the morning. Also 2mg xanax twice a day and 10mg ambien for sleep. Well, this new shrink switched me from xanax (2mg, twice a day) to Klonopin, .5 mg once a day. Switched my Effexor XR from 150mg once each morning to 75mg daily. Also discontinued my Ambien (10mg at bedtime) prescription. Is it just me or is this a drastic decrease in med's? Is Klonopin that much stronger than Xanax. So far the Klonopin (as prescribed is not touching my anxiety and I already had a panic attack this morning. What should I tell my new shrink? any advice would be helpful. Thank You!! K.T.

How long have you been on the ambien and xanax? How long has it been since the medication change? Need to know this before I can comment.
