Default Medication Advise

I am a 38 yr old woman who suffers from chronic headaches. In the past I usually have a headache for a month and it will go away for 3 or 4 months and come back. Recently I have had a headache for 5 months with a two week break in between. I have been to my pain management guy he wants to do a occipital nerve block. I am on Hydracodone 10, Soma 350 and OxyIR (PRN). I also went to the Neurologist this am and he wanted me to go on Anti Depressants and Zanaflex. My questions is when do you say enough is enough. I am sick of the medication and I went to the Neuro guy just to make sure that I didn't something major wrong. I was told I have tension headaches. I am un sure what to do or where to go from this point. I do not want to take any more medication. The way the Neuro guy explained the medication regiment was that It is long term. YEARS.

Have you tried a massage, they relieve tension and it may help. What you need to do is get to the root of the tension and fix that. Tension headaches are terrible as you well know. The opiates won't work after awhile and may even make the headaches worse. Also what about seeing a professional you can talk to.....Dave

I have tried massage. AS a matter of fact I am a massage therapist. I am wondering if the job I have now could be to sole source of my problem. I started it back in September and I got this headache that I have 3 months later and have not been able to get rid of it for longer than a week when I went on vacation. I am a A/R rep for a company where the owners main goal is to get rich off the backs of his employees. I am just sick of the medication routine and am at a loss of what to do now. When you say talk to a professional Dave what are you referring to?

I was in the same situation and had blocks done to my neck also. After the blocks i had terrible headaches that would last 5 months straight also. Nothing would work and i almost killed myself accidently one day by taking nyquil tablets before work. I hit a guardrail as i was falling asleep on the way to work. Luckily there was barriers or i would of hit someone head on. I was so upset i could not control my headaches and was getting desperate that i called my pain specialist and he offered me botox. My insurance company paid for it, as i had a spasm on the back of my neck that was causing tension headaches. As soon as i had the botox shot i was 100% cured!!! Check into your insurance co. and have a neurologist/pain specialist give you the shot. I will bet you will feel 100% better, and to this day which is about 9 months later i have had nomore headaches like the ones i experienced after that. Good luck
