Mania,Depression and Biplor disorder i know someone who is currently suffering from these medical conditions. She was showings signs since i met her and up to now she is not able to overcome this affliction. She is taking lithium now but apparently there are signs of side effects. She even has an escapist attitude to her condition. This is so hard. -
You are right BiPolar is hard. It's hard when it's someone else, and it's even harder if it is you. This is my advise to you:there are many websites you can get info on bipolar.I have looked them up for you,and if you have acsess to a library try to get some books on it. Here are some of the sites I have used myself. www.bipolar.about.com www.bipolarworld.net, www.ndmda.org www.bipolar.com If you plan on being with this person, it is worth your time and hers to get as much info as possible. About the lithium, My husband has been on it for about 15 years and for him it saved his life. But there are often times more than one drug is given such as, wellbutrin and many others. Your friend needs to drink alot of water while taking lithium. And remember, sometimes bipolars decide that when they are doing relly well, they will quit there meds, and the cycle starts all over. Not all bipolars are like that though.I am lucky to have 3 bipolars in my life, My husband, daughter and best friend. But my best friend is no longer my friend. It was a hard decision to make, but I could not ride the rollercoaster any more with her.She will not stay on her meds. My husband and daughter do tho. I am very thankful for that. I hope this gives you something to make your life a little easier!! oh yeah, counseling is very helpful for many people.
