    Unhappy Lyrica/Dilaudid

I need some help on this. My wife was on a dilaudid PCA 1.5 mg/hr max rate.
She asked for more med, as she was 6 hrs total knee replacement surgery. The doctor added lyrica to the med mix, and nearly immediately, she became confused, hallucinatory, and agitated. Has anyone ever heard of any protocol combining these two drugs? We don't know if it is related, other than coincidence, but she has since developed a muscular "twitch" in which she will drop things, extreme whole body movement during sleep, and a few latent hallucinatory episodes. Keep in mind

    (a) She had a total of two doses of Lyrica IV push (dosage TBD)
    (b) The time frame we are looking at right now is 72 hours from first Lyrica
    dose to present time
    (c) There is, as stated, still some latent side effects
    (d) I can find NO reason for Lyrica to have been even considered much
    less prescribed

Any qualified responses are greatlly appreciated, but all comments are welcome.

    Default lyrica/dilaudid

    Update to my original post

Wife came home today, but she is still having brief periods of hallucinations. She has been taken off dilaudid, and now taking percocet 5/325.

She is fine when thinking clearly, but when she is in her "space-out" periods, unless you know her, you'd believe every word she says, because she speaks and acts normally.
