the light at the end of the opiate tunnel!! Hello all!
I am reading and reading and reading and all the stories share the common thread of "oh no, what have I gotten myself into, and how the hell do I come out of this alive?". Well, here is a success story with an unconventional ending...
In a nutshell, fell in love with my husband, fell in love with my life, and fell in love with opiates. Mmmmm... the warm fuzzy blanket of general contentment. Got out of control, and at my worst, was using about 90 mg of percocet a day. Found an amazing outpatient subutex dr. and was on it for 10 months. great decision. gave me some freedom from the obsessions about how many pills I have left, where to get them, fear of wd etc.... I own a business and have 2 little kids and i had to get this under control.
Getting of sub has a bad rap, but fortunately, I live in south florida and was part of a study to help people come off without the extended PAWS symptoms that last forever, thus usually leading back to a relapse. I jumped at 4 mg and was put on 2 Fent patches, lasting 6 days. the ONLY purpose of the patches was to rip the remaining sub off my receptors and deaden the half life. i was in wd for 2 days and went immediately onto LDN (low dose naltrexone) which boosted my endorphins back up, helped with cravings, and acted as a safety net for relapses (if I used, I would feel nothing). been clean for 4 months and happy as can be!!! Just some inspiration that many of us need when it seems like the vicious cycle will never end!
Take Care!

TP, wow! How wonderful for you that this situation presented itself at such a crucial time in your life. I know you feel very fortunate. Your happiness is evident. I am a little jealous, but more thankful for your sobriety. I wish you continued joy in the New Year. Thank you so much for posting such an uplifting story. Marta -
thanks! Thank you for the kind words! I have also recently added the amino acid LDPA which is recommended in conjunction with the LDN and i can feel a mood and energy boost almost IMMEDIATELY! I still have times where i am a bit down, or antsy, but no PAWS, no real cravings, and for the most part, I dont think about opiates. I see alot of people read my thread, and I want to put out there that if I can help anyone, no matter what option they choose, I will!! Happy New Year to you! -
Tp, how would I go about finding someone who might even be interested in doing things the way you did here in California? I'm ready, but am so afraid of getting a weirdo doctor because of all the horror stories I've heard here. Please post when you get a minute. Thank you. Marta -
Happy New Year to you also! -
how to... Im not 100% sure about the how to in California... Perhaps call Skips Pharmacy in Boca Raton, FL as they are the #1 compounding pharmacy for LDN in the country (and the one that I get mine from, super inexpensive). ask to speak to Brooke (a pharmacist) or the owner Skip Lenz an LDN expert. they may be able to refer a doc in your area that is willing to consult with you about a safe and effective way to make the switch if that is what you choose. i have also added the amino acid LDPA and it makes a HUGE difference in my mood and energy level... Good luck!
