Default "liberal" doctors in los angeles...PLEASE HELP ME!

alright, i've tried posting and i'm sick of being in pain. i moved here from new hampshire and i was on percocet 10/325 with good success. i am told it's easy to find someone in l.a. who will write me this. i've called around and NOTHING. i am virtually out. i am not here to find a way to get high. i am in genuine PAIN. i hate it. i have a broken back and knee problems. where are these doctors? i will bring evidence that i am not full of it. the empty bottles of my last prescription, x-rays, whatever. my doctor said he would send the medical file over as well. PLEASE someone help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you phone your doctor back home and see if he will fax a perscription to a pharmacy near you.You will have to go to the pharmacy first and get their name and fax number before you contact your doctor.Explain to him your in dire need and are having trouble finding a doctor.Perhaps he can even help with a doctor.....Dave

Many places will not accept faxed or phoned prescriptions anymore for any type of controlled substance prescriptions, you have to take in the actual written prescriptions.

I really wish I could help, but I am on the opposite side of the country, so I don't know any doctors out there.

Perhaps you just need to sign up as a new patient with a doc, then go in so they can see you and review your medical records, then you can get them to prescribe something. If you are just calling around and asking "Hey, can this doc prescribe pain meds?" you are probably using the wrong approach. Many will just assume you are a drug seeker, and then they are not going to give you the answer you want to hear.

With the way these meds are now strictly controlled in the U.S., you can't just expect them to tell you over the phone, as someone who is not a current patient at their practice, "Hey, yeah, we'll prescribe whatever you want, what pharmacy do you want me to call?" It just doesn't work that way.

You are going to have to get an appointment and become a patient somewhere, asking if they specialize in pain management or can refer you to someone who does, will help you find the type of doctor you need.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~

I feel for your situation. I have a friend who's in LA and he's got a doctor who writes him up 120 10/325 Norcos per month with little to no effort. I think he simply showed him copies of past med records indicating back pain issues. I'm not sure if this guy is a quack or not, b/c my friend unfortunately, IS a drug dealer. SOB got me hooked on opioids- clean now though. As a last resort I could call him and get some info for you. Let me know.

    Sticky~
Soemtimes it's people like the dealer who make it rough for us chronic pain patients to get meds from doctors because alot of them judge everyone as "one"

    ConstantPain:

Zippysgoddess' post is very sensible and is your sole option. Go to a pain management specialist and explain your problem(s) - bring documentation.

Someone here faulted the doctors for treating all patients the same. That's just not true! The FDA rides docs so much theses days that they are reluctant to prescribe appropriately for chronic pain patients - the ones who do often end up imprisoned and w/o a license.

The FDA is a big part of the problem in treating patients w/ chronic pain! Apparently it is so arrogant to assume it knows what is best for you. The FDA should be abolished! Fully 75% of the meds it approved in 2005 were already available in western Europe. Go figure.

    Good luck!

The FDA and the F***ing insurance companies. Who would want to be a doctor these days, and have some bureaucrat or actuary tell you how to practice your profession? Things are only going to get worse, and you think it's bad now. Free country my ass!

    Constant-

Sorry....... I never rec'vd your email.... may have gone to my spam folder. I'll make sure that my profile allows me to receive personal email from this site. I just talked to my friend today and he still gets these on a regular basis. I can try to help you. Just try to email me again. jiboo4u@yahoo.com. I certainly don't condone people acquiring scripts for pain meds just to sell or abuse them. I understand that it makes it more difficult for people who actually need to get a legitimate script. And I agree, the whole healthcare/insurance beauracacy is broken and in need of a major overhaul.

Constant- I could get his doctor's info for you- because if he can get them, you certainly would be able to with past med records.

Don't drive to Mexico. It's dangerous if you don't know your way around. And walking over from the U.S. and hiring a taxi isn't much safer. The federales can do just about whatever they want and even if you make it back to the border successfully with contraband; you still have to go through the customs shakedown. I haven't been down there since 9/11/01 and I can't imagine that it's gotten any easier to cross back over.

I feel for your situation and will try to help you obtain the necessary script legally.
