LEXAPRO WITHDRAWAL. PLEASE HELP I just posted this on featured drugs, but I figured I would post this on this board too.
Ok, I might be far off on this, but I am really bad about taking my meds. I ran out while I was away at school and just started taking my 20 mg dosage again for the first time in about 3-4 weeks. I would take it every once in a while when I could get my hands on one, but for the most part I just quit cold turkey b/c I didnât have a refill. I know this is bad. But this hasn't been the first time this happened.
Ok, so last time this happen I experienced withdrawals, but I also remember getting really sick, almost like the flu. high fever, chills, sweats, and just hurting all over. We thought it was just a virus but when my roommate never caught it, we thought that it may be a side effect from quitting my lexapro so fast.
Well this past week I had the same thing... high fever, flue like symptoms, I mean literally the same thing. And I have been off of my medicine for about 3-4 weeks again, just like last time. Do y'all think that this flu like virus could actually be a withdrawal symptom? I just didn't think withdrawal could be that bad.
Please, if anybody could answer whether or not they think that was a withdrawal symptom I would really appreciate it!
Gosh I have been off of it for like a month, just got some back into my system today, but I am sooo nervous right now, which all of you may be able to tell by my typing. I know it was stupid to just quit taking it for so long cold turkey, but please, if anyone can tell me what all is withdrawal, and what is just me going crazy! Cause that is how I feel. Like I am actually going insane! Thanks so much -
What you are experiencing is typical withdrawal symptoms. Our bodies do get used and dependent upon anything put into them regularly for a long period of time, whether it be a prescription drug, a certain type of food, or that morning cup of coffee.
Once you make it through the withdrawal, and then start taking the same thing again, you are putting something foreign back into your body, and can suffer some reactions from that, also.
Not all will be as severe as drug withdrawals, various substances can cause various reactions, but Lexapro is very well know for causing those types of problems. If you do a quick search on these boards you will find many, many posts similar to yours. verwon@gmail.com
My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~
