Default Lexapro withdrawal

Please help!!!! I'm going crazy... My doctor put me on lexapro for anxiety. The side effects r horrendous!!! The first night I took the pill, I woke up in a puddle of sweat, nervous as hell and with awfull nausea... The next night I decided to cut the pill in half to 5 mg. The same side effects... So I decided to stop lexapro and Im dying!!! Horrible anxiety, sweating, nausea, hot flushes, chest pain... Does this happen to someone who only took 2 pills? I thought lexapro needed to build up a level in ur blood stream... When will it stop?!

Look on the Featured Conditions forum right next to this thread. There is another thread titled Lexapro Withdrawal. It's the biggest thread on this entire web site, 1.5 million views. Post this there or read that thread. You'll get lots of answers there. God bless.

Default In my opinion.....

Taylor,
Personally, if a drug makes me feel horrible on the first or second try - I will stop immediately and go back to the doc and tell him my symptoms and tell him I cannot take that particular med and to try me on another one. With Zoloft and Effexor I had similar horrible symptoms after just one pill. Zoloft gave me instense anxiety and heart palpitations. Effexor made me feel horrible - in an unreal state of depression - and like I was walking through this heaviness. On the other hand, an SSRI, like Lexapro, made me feel better right away. The only symptoms I had were nausea, gas and diarrhea for the first week and then it went away. It also helped me sleep. You may be on the wrong med for you. It may be a matter of trying a few different classes of antidepressant until you find the one that will work for you. Let your doctor or a psychiatrist be you guide. Good luck.
Jenna
