Default lexapro withdrawal

I need some advice on how to wean off of lexapro. I attempted last week (tapered the does to 2.5 mg & stopeed) and felt sooooo miserable - flu symptoms, head zaps, memory problems, depersonalization, crying all day.

Has anyone been on lexapro for longer periods of time? I've been on it for several years. Any advice, suggestion would be good at this point.

I jusat want to find out how long the withdrawal symptoms will be since I've been on lexapro 10mg for about 2-3 years.

Grad Student,

Look at the response to how do you taper on this forum. This may suggest an answer to your question.

How did you get from 10 mg to 2.5? How did you taper and what were your withdrawal reactions??

If you had depersonalization you must have tapered quickly. Try drinking four ounces of nanoi juice a day for the depersonalization, this is recommended in Dr. Anne Blake Tracey's book on SSRI withdrawal. (The juce is available at most Health and Vitamin stores)The book is excellent.

Possibly by tapering as suggested in the previous "How do you taper" post............this may help with the horrible withdrawals. Are you also having sweats, chills and nightmares and bloating and cramping in the stomach??

How long have you been experiencing the zaps and the depersonalization?? You may be able to reinstate and taper more slowly to alleviate the symptoms and damage this may cause to the neurotransmitters in your brain.

Let us know more details.

aunty
