Default lexapro withdrawal

hi everyone:

i am a mother of three and presently 5 months pregnant with my fourth child you can imagine how noisy my life is since they are all under the age of 10 and i was prescribed lexapro by my medical doctor to take last year due to extreme fatigue and head-aches i was getting.

i have been taking the lexapro from 2.5 to 5 and then 10 and have eased off to 5 again and 2.5. i presently take 2.5 every other day but feel sooooooooo bad. i cannot tolerate most of things and have terrible head-aches and feel dizzy and think i could faint any minute. all my blood test and everything else are ok and my obgyn keeps telling me to stay on 2.5 since there are no risk factors for the baby.

nonetheless, i want to feel like myself again after a year and think that my baby can do better with all these chemicals we are taking in in our foods, etc. and she definitely does not need any more.

has someone been in my position before or has any information on how to deal with all these withdrawals. i sometimes think that i might be going crazy and rush to the pill box but need to control myself not to take one every day.

i do appreciate any kind of remark even if it is recommending to stay on it. thanks a million.

Nickey,

I started a thread here "Lexapro Withdrawals" that has 19 pages of advice. Look in the forun for it, it will get a lot more hits and answers for you.

I think you are tapering too fast and can be causing your unborn child distress from having to also endure these withdrawals. I am not a doctor, just a mother who has sought the help of several doctors to withdrawal my child.

You may want to consider going on the last dose that you felt stabilized. Ask your doctor for Liquid Lexapro and taper by 5% only every three weeks, or until you feel stable.

If you go back on 10 Mg that would mean you would taper by only .5 of a milligram. 1/2 of a milliagram and begin taking 9.5 Milligram intil you are stable.

This is a horrible medication and its withdrawal effects are quite brutal for many.
