Default Lexapro Numbness

I have been on lexapro for about 4 years now and have started to realize that something is really wrong. I'm numb to almost all emotions- sometimes its as though I just exist but nothing makes me "feel".
I have spent hours researching side effects to Lexapro, and on all the medical sites I have looked at it doesnt say much about the emotional numbness. I read on this site that there were several people, in a posting nearly a year ago, that were experiencing the same thing. I am now considering tapering off the drug but first would like to know if other people have had the same problems to make sure that it really could be the drug (my drs have continually stated to "just stay on" lexapro b/c the side effects of withdrawal are tough)....... your help is greatly appreciated as I am sick of not feeling.........

Dear Want 2 FEEL,

Lexapro, non-generic is escitalopram is typically prescribed for Generalized Anxiety Disorder and/or Depression.

Are you on any opiates, as the long term use of opiates for pain are exactly what I have experienced. ...a sense of LOSS of soul, no feelings, apathy, etc.

Now, perhaps the Lexapro is NOT at a THERAPEUTIC DOSE..and you are experiencing a deeper level of clinical depression. What does your dr. say besides stay on it...You have a life and a mouth. Please live it and use it to its fullness, esp when you're in the drs office. Bring an advocate with you, wife sig other or friend that sees what u r experiencing..and you will get to the bottom of this.

Need more info on other meds / drugs legal or illegal u r utilizing. to get to the answer to your very real concern.

My 2nd detox was for the very reason u r experiencing. ...and I did not like the apathy and loss of soul to my personhood. I am sure that severe chronic pain is worse (for me) than the apathy issue. ..but each person has a different pain threshold.

Good fortune...speak to your pharmacist..if u can't get anywhere with your dr. re side effects of Lex Luther..ummm Lexapro...

Hope you get answers and recover very soon...Faith and grace to you.

Kind regards,
Paul Remski
