    Default Kidney Stones...

I would like to start iff by saying I have suffered with these awful things for almost 3 years on and off. this last year has been pure hell for me. Right now I have over 200 of them, I have surgerys to remove them and they keep coming back over and over. My Kidney doc gives me a script for lortabs then percs 10 and then we changed it to lortabs, dont know why he is switching it up on me like that but anyway Somedays I take up to 5 pain pills and then on other days I take Zero, I am only 25 and I have a 3 yr old little boy and having these Kidney stones are hard becuase you never know when one is going to come and unless you have had one you have no IDEA how painful it really is, I say it is worse than Labor!!!
Anyway just wondering if anyone has suffered from these, and If there was anything special you did to help you out, someone told me of a drink to mix up and that would help them pass, but I am just curious to know if anyone else suffers from this.

My advice would be to look up on the web, or your library. My sun has had them in the past. There should be some sites to go to. Good Luck

    Jessi,
I can't believe I found someone with more Kidney Stones then myself. I did not think that was possible. I truly feel for you. Not many people understand the actual pain you have to endure everyday. I have passed 67 Stones in the last 3 1/2 years, and now I have 22 more to look forward to. I have not had one day of a break from these horrible things. They have ranged anywhere from 2 mm to 9mm, and the 2 mm will bring you to your knees much less the 7 or 9 mm. I am 37 and I have a four year old daughter, and due to the stones now I am a single father with custody of her. As I said no one seems to understand. It makes it very hard to deal with every day activities, much less raise a child, or take a (former) wife to dinner. Most people so I hear have one or two and then a decade later may have another. But, this chronic part is rare it seems, and the specialists are stumped. I could not tell you how many surgeries I have had to get rid of them, from lithotripsy to cytoscopys to laser oscopys or something like that, and nothing seems to work. More yet it seems every procedure they do things get worse. Plus the constant infections you get from the stones cutting their way through now I have an enlarged prostate. I am on my fifth Urologist and they all have their own little "miracle cure" and none seem to work. They have tried; high blood pressure meds (supposed to make you urinate more freq and deplete you of calcium), some drink that tasted horrible (supposed to break them up), nitroglycerin patch (again urinate more freq), a 72 hour stone profile (inconclusive), and down to just adjusting my diet, and the list goes on and on. And nothing seems to work, or even make a difference. The only thing that helps to ease the pain is I finally went to a pain management doctor. The family doctors, and the Urologists are so leery of giving you anything for pain because there are so many that abuse it, but if they only had to endure what we have for a day, they would change their attitudes. Not to mention the fact they want to do a KUB X-ray which is a joke as far as I am concerned. They are so inconsistent anything can be in the way and a stone will not be seen. I had a KUB done on a Monday, and they said NO STONES PRESENT and accused me of faking to get meds...I went to the ER on Wednesday after being blinded by pain and they did a CAT Scan and I had 15 stones, so be careful of that. The Pain Magment Doctor has me on a time release morphine, it tends to make me tired all the time, along with a few other side effects, but there is no buzz or bad dizzy feeling. It does not make the pain go away, but it does take the edge off. I was also on MSIR for breakthrough but all I wanted to do was sleep so I traded that for Loritab (as needed) along with the morphine twice a day. At least I can work to allow me to pay for all these hospital bills. And with all the Vicoden, and loritabs I was taking that I was worried about having liver trouble next. I am supposed to go to the Mayo Clinic soon. It is basically my last resort to see if they can come up with something to get rid of them, as like you I am sure I do not want to live with this forever. I would eventually like to have a life again. It will probably take a month or so to get in there but I will gladly pass along what I find if you are interested. Oh yeah what kind of stones do you have? Mine are the Calcium Oxalate version. If there is anything I can try to answer for you let me know. Maybe one of those so called miracle cures could work for you. Best of luck, Ken

Finallyy someone who understands, these are awful and unless you have had one you have no idea, and it is really bad when you pass them alot, You are in pain everyday it is honestly like giving birth everyday you wake up. I went from a ct to a kub to a IVP and it all showed the same I really didnt see the point in all those test, then I say I am hurting and then he sends me for anther ct scan, I mean how safe is that to have one 3 times a month.Mine are also Calcium I have done everything to try and not get them every diet quit drinking pop, sometime my Urlogist Acts like I should not have the pain and I am like I live in pain and then other times he is understanding just got to catch him on the right day. I feel for you with your kid it is so hard to take care of yourself let alone some one else when you feel this bad. Well I need to run I have so much more to say need to take my son to his paw paws, I am so glad i found you. keep me posted with everything.

oh wow do i ever understand! In the last four years i have had 12 surgeries because of these awful things! I even had some of them during my pregnancies because they made me so ill. Did you know the severe pain from stones can cause you to go into preterm labor?
In august i had lithotripsy which never really works well for me. Then i got a bad kidney infection. Then four 5mm stones were stuck in one ureter and two 5mm stones were stuck in the other ureter. My doctor wanted them to just 'pass' so i suffered since august until just a few days ago. Now i have another kidney infection!!!!!
I have five kids and i am having a hard hard time enjoying my kids and husband and just my life as a whole.
My urologists told me that there is nothing i can do that will stop them from forming. I am in the 3% they just dont know why. I tried modifying my diet. Tried some meds. Nothing works.
    It is just depressing.
I'm so sorry you guys are going through this also. I wouldnt wish kidney stones on my worst enemy! It really is worse than labor!

BLESS YOUR HEART!!!!! I feel so sorry for you!!! I have never had kidney stones but my son has had them. His first one was when he was only eight years old.I,like you,was looking for anyway to relieve my son of this misery.I met this wonderful lady who told me about a herbal combination that would rid my son of his kidney stones.I was willing to try anything!!!!Believe it or not,it worked. The name of it is S.D.R.It is a combination of gravel root, stone root, hydrangea root and marshmallow root.I gave him one dropper full four times a day for four days and his kidney stone disappeared.I now give him the same doses every three months just as a preventive measure and believe it or not,he has not had another one!!!I thank God for S.D.R.Please go to your local herb store and try this herb combination. You will be thanking God just like I do.

    Default kidneystoneshurt

I have had 1 kidney stone in my left kidney for five years. I have been on a waiting list to have it taken care for the last three years at two different hospitals. The last time I visited the ER do to the pain, the doctor told me that if the stone is not removed soon they will have to surgically remove the stone through my back because it will be to bid to break up. I went to another doctor to try to set up an appointment for lithatripsy. I still have the stone and I live with the pain everyday. I just learned that if I take pain medicine and drive I could get a ticket for DUI. Now I can not take pain medicine and get to work so I have to try to live with the pain while I work. I have to work to pay for all the doctor bills I have due to this stone. Three years ago my kidneys shut down because I got a kidney infection because the stone. I have tried everything. I am currently trying SDR herb.

    Wink Kidney stones

I get kidney stones several times a year, and always 3-5 at a time. I know the literature says that stones under 4mm are usually not painful to pass, but I beg to differ. A 2mm stone is enough to make me vomit from the pain. It's excruciating. I'm 35 years old, and never had a baby, but I've always heard from relatives who also get frequent renal stones that they're worse than childbearth. I've been hospitialized 3 times with stones and even been completely obstructed from a 2mm stone.
