Default James Hyde.

Morphine withdrawal (presently taken for neuropathic pain and amputation phantom pain). I have recently started cutting my doses with intention of coming of the stuff altogether so I can drive. Already down from 90mg twice daily + oramorph to 55mg twice daily with virtually no oramorph. Is is best to continue steady reduction of dose at this speed, this in a couple of months so far, or should I be more drastic. Just how bad will withdrawal symptoms get? Presently getting severe depression. Withdrawal symptoms eased by rare small sip of oramorph, am I doing the right thing. Not getting any professional help or advice.

As far as the steady reduction, you should simply reduce as far as you can comfortably. I think it's great that you can do it that way. I've never been able to taper my usage. I always started off with the best of intentions, but would end up over using. When I stopped, I went cold turkey. The withdrawals are pretty bad. For me, the worst phyiscal withdrawals lasted about 3-5 days. The emotional withdrawals were the worst thing to deal with and lasted much longer than that. You WILL get through it, however. Keep posting and let us know how you're doing!
