Unhappy how long do symptoms last

My addiction was vicodin (due to a broken ankle) graduating to Oxycontin to kill the pain. I was doing 50-80 mg of oxys daily. Then I turned myself in to a clinic for a couple days. I was given the 8mg suboxone 3x daily for about 8 mo. Now I am on the 2mg 3x daily which I've been taking for 5 mo. I ran out of my prescription and couldn't afford my next one. The third day after my last dose was tolerable. The fourth day felt like a bad hang over (head ache vomiting, diarhea, sweats body ache) which lasted nearly a week and a half. I thought it was the worst, I was wrong. About the 12th day the aches and pains got worse and my cravings started to come back. Lucky I was on lay off from work nearly 3 wks. No I have to work and I can't go to work looking and feeling like this. HELP PLEASE I want off this ASAP.

hey, just saw this thread after posting a similar one in the "featured drugs" section...I want to stop too but havent been able to get below 4 mg/24-36 hrs, and I dont know anyone who has...sorry to hear its been that rough for you, I think we all believe(or are sold...) the dream that its so much easier to quit suboxone than oxy or heroin...if that is true how come everyone I know that started sub is still on it or relapsed? Yet I know alot of people who quit narcotics cold turkey and have stayed clean...
I am starting to think that it wouldve been better to stop cold, suffer the withdrawl and be done with it...starting to think that sub is only postponing the inevitable pain of withdrawl from narcotics. Just substituting one addiction for another(albeit a much less expensive and destructive one), is not what my goal was when I decided to get clean.
I planned on using sub as a step in getting clean, not a lifetime maintenance program...
Also I feel bad for you because your habit was not too bad before, it would have been alot easier for you to quit your oxy habit cold turkey at 80mg/day than to try and taper off of 24mg/day of buprenorhine(which as you know by now is WAY more potent and long lasting than oxy)...you might have been sick for a week or so but that wouldve been it pretty much(I know because the first time I quit oxy was after a year of using 80mg/day, this was years ago and I never even heard of sub so I did it cold turkey and it wasnt too bad, but it was still bad enough for me to stay clean 5 years before starting again...
Good luck and try to stay strong and off the sub...please post again and let us know how its goin...
