Help on "secret" w/d ideas

I am an OC addict...have dealt with this on and off for ten yrs. I ahev had periods of being clean. But i fell back into it a yr ago in July. My bf found out once and i told him i was done but i couldnt quit. when i finally tried to quit i cam down with meningities and was in the hospital for 2wks on dilaudid and than sent home on percs and it just started me up heavy again. I use around 80-100mg a day. Sometimes i dont even get high it is just the high of crushing and snorting the pill...i knwo that sounds weird but sometimes its like that is the high i get from it.

Anyway i really need to stop and i dont know how to do it with letting no one know. I cant do rehab cause of my job and kids and bf. And i dont want him to know i was on it again. He has never done drugs nor does he udnerstand addiction or anything. My question is what are your suggestions on the best way to kick it without being found out and i need to be able to function and stll go to work. I dont usually feel the effects too bad until day 2 which is when the slepplessness and irritablilty and lump in throat starts.

I know Immodium is supposed to help. I also had 4 5mg oxys, i have around 15 tramadol (ultram)( i heard these help with the W/d), cherrytussin (cough syrup with codeine).....now do u haev any suggestions if i should use these as aids to wean down or help with the w/d. Please let me know what u think the best method is and what i can use to help. Should i just take some tramadol and immodium everyday and do the minor "Flu". PLease help me Im so tierd of the lying and the mass amounts of money i am spending i cant hide much longer...PLEASE help! i hate myself for this happening again

You need to be aware that Tramadol is a very addictive drug. Just read around the forums. There are quite a few people struggling hard to beat a Tramadol addiction. Look up the Thomas Recipe. It lists ingredients you can buy over the counter or in a health food store plus a benzo to help with sleep during the worst of it. It won't make you feel 100% but it will help. Immodium is on the list, Tramadol NOT. Good luck !

First off, chances are your drug use is not a complete secret to those around you. We believe that is true while we're doing it - as no one confronts us - but, after the truth comes out, we learn that many were suspicious of our behavior or appearance. The effect of these drugs on us is far more visible than we realize.

I think that trying to quit alone, in secret and without support, is going to be especially difficult for you to do. However, you seem to want to try it this way. If possible, you want to taper down your use to the lowest level you can - so that the withdrawal symptoms are minimized. I don't know if you have the ability to control your pill use and do so. (I didn't - I had to have someone hold my pills and dispense them to me.)

So, if you can't taper down, then cold turkey may be the only solution. You can find the Thomas Recipe here: http://www.drugs.com/forum/featured-...wal-35169.html This may help. I do not personally recommend taking benzos (like the valium, klonopin, etc.) but some seem to need it. If you do use those drugs to detox, keep the use to an absolute minimum - and stop as soon as you possibly can. That's a horrific class of drugs to get dependent upon.

I agree with Rose about tramadol - that doesn't relieve withdrawal, it prolongs it. You wouldn't be actually withdrawing off the opiate if you still have another drug in your system. It's just adding fuel to the fire.

I hope you'll consider talking to your boyfriend - he should be able to understand how the drugs in the hospital led you right back into addiction. Even a person who is unfamiliar with addiction could understand how that happens. His support may be the best help you can have through this.

I hope you'll continue to post - it will help to purge your feelings here... and there's plenty of feedback by others who are (or have been) going through the same thing. You may want to post in the "Need to Talk?" forum, as there are more folks there, struggling with addiction - as well as help from those of us who have been successful in doing so.

I understand the precautions afore mentioned by the other posters about using Tran, but I seriously doubt you'll get addicted to tramadol with only 15 pills. I would suggest using them to ease the landing.
