HELP ME PLEASE IM AT A LOSS Hello my fiancee has just confessed to me he is addicted to painkillers such as coproxamol, codiene and tramadol, he takes up to 40 a day this has been for 13 years and without them has terrible withdrawal syntoms such as hurting all over, sweating and he just lays in bed. He wont go to the doctors to get help as he feel ashamed of his addiction so i need to find out a way i can help him from home. It has gotten to the point where he is taking my painkillers that i have for my back and if i hide them he hunts around for them. Should we sue the NHS for not realising he has been on them so long?? Is there anyone out there that knows how i can help him or has been through it themselfs?? im at a loss i need help! -

Hello, You asked for help so don't be offended please!
If you are just now noticing that he needs help after 13 years of dependency, you need help as well. You are in denial that he could be doing such a thing. Take your medications with you wherever you go. This way he can't find them. Be serious about this. It is real. it is real serious. You may have to enroll him yourself in rehab if won't go willingly. Call the Doctor and Pharmacy where he is getting the meds and explain the situation. They will stop issuing perscriptions. If he is in genuine pain that is a different matter and will need to be handled accordingly. Pray everday. Keep faith that the Lord will heal your situation and he will. I will pray for you two as well. Keep me posted. -
i have only been with my partner for a year and he used to hide the addiction from me! he still gets given pain killers himself. he cant just stop taking them as it makes him VERY ill! -
Well I am afraid you don't have a valid lawsuit and that would not help with your situation anyway.
Run to your nearest Wal-Mart, buy one of the small Sentry fire safes, they are around $20, use it to lock your meds up so he can't get into them. Hide your keys.
I got one of these when someone was stealing my narcotic meds, we weren't 100% certain who it was, though we had a good idea, and this solved the problem by just making them inaccesible.
You need to make him understand there is no shame in his problem and if he doesn't have the will power to taper on his own, he is going to need the help of a doctor who can prescribe things such as Methadone or Suboxone. verwon@gmail.com
My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~ -
I agree with zippysgoddess. Sorry if I misunderstood the situation. In order to help him him you have got to get your meds from him. Check into the methadone treatments. Don't give up helping him. He will thank you later, I PROMISE.
I will continue to pray. -
thank you i will never give up on him we are due to be married in september. i think i will take the advise you have given and controll how many pills he has and i will deffinately look into the methadone treatment/ -
