I have been dealing with an urge to close my eyes which leads to squinting and other facial grimacing to counter, for a couple of years. Numerous neurologists don't feel it is dystonia (uncontrolled muscle disorder effecting the eyes). The only known treatment for that is botox injections to control the eye muscles. No one knows what is it. The psychiatrists have many different viewpoints (as usual). Everything from anxiety to tic disorders. One of them wanted to place me on the older neuroleptic drugs for the tic disorder. Review of those drugs show a history that they could cause a horrible movement disorder problem called tardive dyskenesia. I have tried ssri's and other antidepressants with no results. Also tried tenex and the only relief is from klonopin. It has been suggested to attenpt anti seizure or mood stabilizers. Any ideas would be helpful.
In my experience, mood stabilizers and anti psychotics tend to cause that condition. I'm sure that kolonopin, a weak benzodiazepine, or even valium would take care of that problem, but that isn't without the dependence issues.
