Unhappy Effexor+Lamictal no longer working

I have been on effexor (112.5mg) and lamictal (200 mg) for depression for over a year now. I felt great for about 6 months, better than ever on an antidepressant....until now.

I feel like I am back to by old depressed self again....with an added sense of irritability that is affecting my work. I don't have an appt with a psych dr until August. Here are my concerns:

I have experimented with increasing effexor, and that made me feel super anxious and gave my high blood pressure. So that is not an option. I am also scared to death the doctor will try to take me off of effexor to try something new....which will produce horrible withdrawal effects. I've been there....it's a nightmare! Does anyone have any idea where I can go from here? Will I ever feel better? Was my newfound happiness a one time thing? Please help!!!

Default

i just posted a reply about lamictal, once i started taking lamictal i felt like my rapid moods swings were increased, not the speed just the moods. they went from completely apathetic to extremely depressed, to the point where i couldnt get out of bed. i was extremely irritable, mean, quiet, and i just wanted to be alone more so than now. i had to be taken off of the lamictal because of an allergic reaction. but as you know all medications work differently for all people. another factor that plays into this is that we are also both on other medications, but i thought my experience would be helpful since there were some similarities.
