    Default Doctors

I was reading On other threads and the topic was How it is the doctors fault everyone becomes addicted. I know not everyone is going to agree with me but I just wanted to say something..
we all choice to take these meds, we all Know the Risk it is written on the paper they give you at the Pharmacy, I dont think anyone should blame there doc for being addicted, They are only doing there Job by giving you something to manage You pain, In saying that if someone went to the Doc and was in pain and the Doc didnt give you anything He would be a butt hole then. At my doctors vistis Yesterday, The Dea came to see him because two out of Hudreds of Patients were saying he got them Hooked on Pills, Now he cant really prescribe pills because they are watching him, And I think that is ****, he doest not give me my meds my other doc does, but for his Patients that need something, now they hve to suffer because someone is blaming Him, when they New Good and Well the Meds they were taking could make them addicited or dependant. I just Dont get it. Does anyone else feel the same as me on the subject??
this was just on my mind and I wanted to write about it.

Jessi, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am tired of everyone blaming the meds and the doctors for their problems. It just goes along with this whole modern mentality that everyone is a victim, no one takes responsibility for their own actions anymore.

I feel very sorry for your doctor, as if they didn't already have to go through enough to prescribe pain meds to help someone, now he has to worry even more, maybe even lose his license because a couple people had to abuse the meds he gave them to try to help them. Just such a shame.

If you are on class I or II meds, you already have to see your doc every month to get new scrips, you can't have refills, and they have to keep logs or copies of all the prescriptions they write for those types of substances, and be prepared to justify why they are prescribing them. I am not sure if it is the same way in all states, but here in PA, our PACs and CRNPs can't even sign those types of prescriptions anymore, they have to write them and then go get an MDs approval and have him sign them in order for our pharmacies to fill them. Yes, a lot of times this might not be a problem, if you always see the MD at your doc's office, but in my case, for instance, I never see the doc, the PAC and CRNP are the people most familiar with my and my husband's health issues, so we always see them instead. Then we have to sit and wait in the office, when we need narcotic prescriptions, for them to go track down the doc, which of course requires waiting if he is in an appointment or having to call him for authorization and wait for his signature if he is out of the office.

It just creates an additonal pain in the rear, the whole way around for those of us who legitimately need meds and would never dream of abusing them or abusing the trust of the doc who prescribed them.

OK, I just have to write this to give you the other point........
Some people do START taking pain killers not knowing the outcome. In their defense I say the doctors are WRONG for not giving them the proper information and not following up with THEIR patient (whom most likely paid $ to see them). In that sence I agree with them. On the other hand I purchased my drugs off the streets so I have no compliant....Except......Addiction will not exclude you unless you let it excuse you! Most likely it will test you a few times.

Don't get me wrong. I do disagree with most that blame their doctors but at the same time... the pills are coming from somewhere. The DEA was actually doing his job (for a change). I believe they could really catch the sh*tty doctors if they tried a little harder! Its my opinion. Sorry!

    Not so clueless,

See, I don't agree with all of that either, the fact that these types of drugs can be addictive and dangerous is NOT a hidden fact or mystery. You hear stuff about it on the news, in newspapers, magazines, the leaflets you get from your pharmacy warns you about it, and if you check out the meds online you are also warned, so no one goes into it blind. I know people like to claim they didn't know it was addictive, but the information is all there, it is no one's fault but their own if they don't bother to pay attention to it.

My doc told me first off then when I went the the pharmacy they always ask if you have any questions obout your medicine and then put info about My meds in the bag, in the Ifno it says dont take more than your suposed to dont double your doses and this medice is addictive, if reading that anyone should know the risk. My doc is getting taking to court over this and that sucks he is not a dirty doc at all and it is just really gets to me, that they are blaming him when they should be blaming there selves, i know everyone is not going to agree. I thinking some people always blame someone else when they get addicted and In truth it is there Own fault. You are right the pills are coming from somewhere it is the people faking injuries and going to the Doc cying for Pain meds when they dont need them and sale them to make them a little money if they need money find a job hell work too but dont sale Drugs on the streets that your getting from Doctors who trust you with that Medicine to take it like your susposed too,And the people who Doctor Hop Ect, people like that is what makes it hard for people like me who Is truly sick everyday of my life

yeah...i fully agree with you jessi... the doc is simply doing his job. and not everyone becomes dependent on the med...if one person becomes, then how come the doc is at fault...

i think the mentality of certain is really ****...

I agree with you also Jessika.
It took me a long time to get the painkillers I needed for my back. For years I had taken anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS), until I became severly anemic as a result.
Finally I was sent to a specialist who told me there was no cure for my backpain, surgery would not help, and physio or chiropractic treatments would only aggravate the problem (I had tried everything).
Well I did manage these pills (morphine), successfully for years, until recently. With a lot of stress in my life I ended up taking just "one or two extra", and now my prescription has run out.
Im hoping I can live without these drugs, that my lifestyle of being extremely active, including backpacking, swimming, etc has strengthened my back to the point I can manage the pain free from drugs.
I feel like I've had a ball and chain around my ankle for years, controlling my desire to chase that euphoric pleasure from those drugs - but I would never blame my doctor for what Im going through today.
It's well known that painkillers are addictive.
