Default doctor shopping

i have a friend who has been doctor shopping for the last 11 years b/c he is addicted to pain pills, somas and xanax.i thought it was illegal to do this but he has been caught a couple of times by different doctors, but never seems to get in trouble for it. he just finds another doctor.he lives in louisiana, and the pain management clinics there are a joke.he has been told that he has been reported to the dea, but so far he is still doing his thing. does anyone know if doctor shopping ends up in jail time, cause thats what needs to happen. he is killing himself daily with all these pills. i'm talking 25-30 lorcet 10's/day...25-30soma/day and probably 15-20 xanax/day. it's sad to see him like this. does anyone have any info on this?

Hi,

I dont know how things work in KY I live in Indiana and I was caught doctor shoping a few times when I was in active adiction and nothing was ever done to me I would do the same thing just find a different Doc so until he is ready to quite doing it he might keep getting away with it.

Suboxone works give it a chance!

He can go to jail if caught,it depends on alot of different things. Is there anyway your friend will go into a treatment centre??Unfortunetly addicts and especially poly-addicts either get well or eventually die from ill health from abuse or die from overdose.Good luck.....Dave
