My husband is in his first 24 hours of witdrawels from pain meds. I have never had to go through anything like this before. I want to be here for him, but he keeps cursing and yelling at me. He has never acted this way to me before. Can someone please tell me how long will he be like this and what else should I expect? He is military so we can not get help from them or the doctors or else they will kick him out of the military and we definitely don't need that right now. He knows he has a problem and he wants to stop but he is having the worst time with these withdrawels. He has already wanted to hurt himself. What should I do and what do I have to expect with the remainder of his witdrawel times? Please, help me. Devoted and helpless wife.

Sorry for what is happening to you and you husband. I know its a terrible time. I have been trough the same thing many times. If things get to bad you should take him to the hospital. They can give him some meds to calm him down. If he is at a very high dose of pain medication, he probobly shouldnt do it by himself. What is he taking and how much? He will probobly fine. Just give him room and keep your distance but be there for him when he really needs you. Good luck on everything and be strong.
