| | Day one detox This is it. Today starts my detox, or did at this morning anyway. I normally take 2 lortAB 10 each morning, and then 4 more over the day.Not today.
Right now, I dont feel bad. I was shaky and sweaty earlier, but right now I just feel the absence of my buzz.
I'm doing this alone. My husband doesn't know ( he would be no help anyway...) and I'm really pretty scared. Not cause I feel bad now, but what may be coming. I hope someone will be around here. |

I hope someone will be around here. | We are here!! I am pretty new at this thing, but am free of opiates. I did not just stop, I did Suboxone for 8 days. It got me through the rough first days, so my prayers are with you doing this by just stopping. It will be hard ...I know, but there are wonderful people here to encourage you each minute, hour and day.
It does feel better once it clears...I kinda just started feeling better one day and it was all a downhill coast from there. My hat is off to you. I am sure others will have much more constructive and specific advice for you as far as symptoms are concerned, but be assured that prayers are with you.
I hope that you find your husband can be some help to you. Maybe ask???? But, you would of course know better than me. But, you never know...have a heart to heart....? Sometimes people can surprise us!
Because of whose we are!

You will probably have some difficulty sleeping tonight. Would almost bet on it. Probably restless legs, tossing and turning, etc. Not sure how long you have been taking the Lortabs, but you will notice the W/Ds pretty soon if it's been long at all. Are you hiding this from your spouse or does he just not understand??? Not trying to get into your business, just want to give you the right suggestions that will help for the particular situation you will be dealing with. |

| | hiding it... he really wont be supportive. I've been on them daily for about a year... not as heavy as this except the last few months.
And yes, it all started with chronic pain and some surgeries. |

Let us know how you are.
One of the things I have seen Robert post to others is to NOT go to bed if you can't sleep. I whole heartedly agree. That is miserable. I watched TV or soaked in the whirlpool because the RLS (the ansy, heeby-jeeby leg thing) drove me insane. Laying in bed in the dark with that is undo-able for me. So, if a hot soak relaxes you....do it...as many times as need I say...
Post and let us know you've made it another day...and are another day closer to the end of this!
Because of whose we are....

Tonight will likely be more difficult when you try to sleep. Like Typical said, it's easier sometimes to just stay up than to toss and turn all night. That sucks so bad!!! Hot baths really help with the restlessness. You can literally stay in a tub as long as you need to. It helps a lot. You will probably have diarrhea today being your stomach is upset. That is usually next. Take as much Immodium as you need. Just don't take it if you don't need it. It has an opiate base to it, will help the stomach/diarrhea but won't hurt the recovery. Diarrhea also dehydrates us. Drink lots of Gatorade. It's loaded with electrolytes and will help your overall wellness. Advil helps some with the body aches and stiffness. Also some exercise helps too. It doesn't take aerobics or running five miles. Just a good walk will help to produce some natural endorphines which the pain meds pretty much stopped. This is your body's natural way of making you feel better.
Having used the opiates for only a year should not be a HUGE problem to get past. Not belittling your condition as you will go through W/Ds. But not as bad as someone who used for decades. If you do the things suggested here you should start having good days again by the end of the week. It will feel so good once you are past this. You won't believe how good you feel again. Keep focused on that. Just keep posting and hang in there. Let us know how you are doing. Good luck and God bless. |

Whats funny is that I had gotten to where I didnt even get a buzz anymore, no matter how much I took at once. Never mattered. And still I MISS it. That makes no sense.

Rehab facilities are always a good option. Relapse rates are high and ou might want to consider Sub. Subutex/Suboxone are good for someone who has been unsuccessful with other detox methods. There are lots of drs in and around Spokane that prescribe this medication. A dr has to be certified for Sub to be able to prescribe it. Go to www.suboxone.com and you can read lots about it. You can also enter your zip code on the top right hand corner of the home page and they will give you a list of all drs in your area who are certified. You should check it out. Let us know how you are doing. Good luck. |

Sounds good. You may just be lucky and get past this sooner than expected. And you are so right. Drug dependencies happen to people in all walks of life. Illness and injury can put anyone in this predicament. Good luck to you ... keep us posted how you are doing. |

Keep on telling yourself that you KNOW this is the best thing. You will get past it, and mark another day on your calendar. Hang in there.....
Yes, disease doesn't check your resume first!

Now you are having classic symptoms. The cold/hot feelings, probably sweating. The runny nose, sneezing ... feels like hell I know.
Don't know if I would take soma, but a valium wouldn't hurt for a day or so. Do the things I mentioned to you earlier. Don't forget the Immodium. Hot bath would be perfect right now! A good walk, as much as you don't feel like it now, would help with the nervousness. Hang in there. This won't last too long. You will be glad you did this soon. Take care. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
