Default cipramil withdrawal

Hi, have been taking cipramil for 3 years now. Never really thought of myself as a depressed person, but had brain fog, dizziness and poor concentration so was prescribed cipramil. At first it was great, but over the last year my syptoms have re-appeared - not sure if it's the depression sneaking in or a reaction to the drugs. Anyway, gradually cut down over the past 2 weeks and have now nearly stopped, but I feel so tired. Could sleep for England. On cipramil would leap out of bed and now I turn the alarm off and sleep! Also feel a bit panicky, dizzy, and quiet. Is this normal anyone? Don't know whether I'm doing the right thing. Don't want to go back to the dark days. Any advice appreciated!

Hi Johanne,
It sounds like you are starting to go through withdrawals from the Cipramil. Cipramil is an SSRI (Selective Seronin Re-uptake Inhibitor) and there is a whole family of them, and the withdrawal effects are pretty much identical. Despite the protestations of the drug companies, these drugs have withdrawal symptoms. There are many sites on the web relating to them. I also am withdrawing from Cipramil, but am a member of another forum topic on this web page
called Lexapro withdrawal. Have a look at it and join us. At present, there are about 78 pages with some very useful information, in particular, "Auntybiotic" gives a great list on either page 76 or 77 of other useful websites as well.
Whatever you do, withdraw slowly, and don't go "cold turkey".

Regards,
Mr Spock

Hi, I had been taking Cipramil for 6 months, so not quite as long. I went off them a month ago and in week 2 experienced dizziness and lots of nausea, vomitting and light head. However, I'm fine now but this may be due to not being on them for that long. Plus I was in another country travelling so perhaps a combo of those two lessened my withdrawal symptoms. I have heard that the longer you are on them, the longer the withdrawal...which I guess makes sense.

Good news is, I lost all the weight gained from being on Cipramil within that month! I truly understand how horrible the withdrawal is and it can be quite scary. However, it will pass and this is me on the other side. I wish I could tell you how long it will last for you but I believe it varies person to person.

So far feeling great off them. Dealing with anxiety and depression via meditation, it really does work! I understand though it's not for everyone. Good luck
