Default Can someone please help me? ANYONE.

Hello...all.

trying to figure out this site, i had posted a question couple days ago! if anyone can help me, on how i can figure out where i can get help first for my addiction to pain killers, i fear if i dont get help now, i'll end up to be out of control. my husband doesnt understand. he had thought in the beginning i'd be gone for like 6-9 months, which "WOW", oh my gosh...HARSH. i assured him it wouldnt be for that long. but why is he like that? he would rather me stay the same way, then get better. because he fears he'll miss me to much. we do have 3 kids together...but, well i dont know. im not really sure what to do? i know i need to go, i know i cant go cold turkey, at home, with 3 kids running around...it would just be to hard. and i'd end up using again...the only good thing is i have slowed down on taken pills, but that happens when i go out drinking with friends & family... but i want to live the life of a pill free person...i want to be normal...ifs that even possible for me. i wish my husband supported me still, instead of ignoring my problem. before he use to be so afraid he'd lose me, i thought actually wanted to be ME again would have made him happy..i dont know where i can get help, either. how do i begin, where do i go?

I could really use the help, is anyone out there?

Hi Elle: I don't know were you are in Canada but here in Ontario you can go to a methadone clinic. How long have you been abusing and what opiates are you abusing? Are you on any benzodiazepines? The reason why I ask is to see if methadone would even be an option for you.Unfortunetly buprenorphene isn't available in Canada yet but it should sometime in 2007.My suggestion to you would be to try and get on a low dose of methadone making sure that the clinic you are getting the methadone from is aware that you are only taking the methadone until buprenorphene becomes available. If you've been an addict for over 5 years then quitting cold turkey or even 12 step programs are only about 5% succesfull. If you can give me some more info I can likely help you better, starting with which province your in.Good luck......Dave

I don’t want to nock you MPVT but methadone is just as addictive as Heroin and can lead to more problems and more addiction down the road. I do believe she is saying she wants to stop taking any drugs period, right!

OK if that is the case your right MPVT, 12 step programs are not working for people becuase they just hold you till your with drawls are gone and send you back out with no way to handle the cravings and un expected situations that can lead to a ree laps. and they are alot more expensive then Narcanon.

Ele if you look at my posts I posted a bunch of information on a detoxify center called Narcanon. Just so every one knows right off the bat they are connected to scientology but you don’t have to be a scientologist to go their in fact no one who goes there is. It’s just that L. Ron Hubburd developed a way to remove drug residues from the body and give people knowledge to make them more able when they go back into the world.
