I take xanax when I start getting anxious or panic attacks, but I don't think that it's doing enough. Are there any other benzo's that may be better for anxiety?

There are many benzo's your doctor can give you,just be careful and only use them when you really have to.They are not meant to be taken on a daily basis as you will get hooked on them really quick.Believe me you don't want to go through a benzo withdrawl as they can be the worst and even deadly.Take care.....Dave

I agree withdrawl from benzos are pure hell! its worse than pain killer w/d i expericened both.

my doc gave me xanax xr its a long acting xanax and it works great!
i suffer from anxiety disorder. i used too get really bad panic attacks they felt like heart attacks but reg xanax is not a good med i used to take 20 2 mgs at once. but they stopped working after awhile and all you want is more and more.

ive been on klonopin valium ativan and now im on xanax XR and it works just fine. i dont get panic attacks anymore.

One time i took too much of it though and the w/d was so bad i was hallucating hearing things severe w/d that i just wanted to kill myself i actually tried too by cutting my wrists. thats how bad w/d is like Dave said.

i been on it now for 2 years and i make sure that i dont run out and i havent ran out since. im very care ful with it so just a friendly word of advice be careful with your xanax and if you do want to get off make sure you let your doc know and he will cut you down slowly.

I've had a panic disorder for years now, and mostly have it under control thanks to Effexor XR everyday. I used to take Xanex as well, until I took them just for the high. My dr gave me Klonapin for my anxiety and I only take them when necessary. They are less addictive and they do the job. Good luck...
