Question Assistance Oxycontin

This question is directed to oxycontin patients.

I have been an intractable pain patient for around 8 years now. Over the past 12 months I have had some problems with different medications mostly generics. Last summer I received what I was told by my doctor counterfeit tablets (probably from china) of brand name oxycontin which he immediately flushed and provided me another prescription. I ended up loosing the money as the pharmacy needed the bad medication to return to the manufacturer.
From that point on I have kept an eye on every medication I take by familiarizing myself with different characteristics of each tablet or capsule.
I have just picked up a script for brand name (Purdue) oxycontin and it seems like every 8hr dose is extremely inconsistent something is defiantly wrong. I examined the tablets and noticed the markings on the front 80 and the back OC are not uniformed. In other words if you look at the front of the tablet and center the 80 at 9 and 3 O'Clock position then slowly turn the tablet over the OC should should be stamped at the 9 and 3 O'Clock position matching the front and should be uniformed on each tablet. Needless to say with these these tablets every tablet is different with some tablets having the OC marking back wards. This medication does have some active ingredient in it where as the other seemed to have none.
I tried calling the Purdue Co and they were not any help bedsides its a strange question to ask or even try to get across to someone. My doctor who I have only been seeing for a short time and pharmacy he sens me to are 3.5 hrs away and I don't want to make any trouble. He is one of the best PM doctors in the country.
NEED SOME ASSISTANCE, IF THERE ARE ANY MEMBERS WHO ARE LEGITIMATE PAIN PATIENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING PRESCRIBED
10mg, 20mg, 40mg OR 80MG BRAND (PURDUE) OXYCONTIN could you check your tablets for the above stated condition and let me know what you find so I will know for sure and be able to address it.

I would greatly appreciate it,

Thanks for your time

Default OxyContin patient

This may be a little off the subject, but I felt the need to inform you that the medication you are taking (80mg oxycontin) is like, (for a better word) THE DEVIL. Even as taken as prescribed by the doctor and taken exactly as prescribed, you can and WILL develope dependent on this drug. I don't know you medical history, but I can tell you from experience "Get off of the oxy as soon as possible." I took my 40mg oxycontin EXACTLY as prescribed and ended up in rehab to get off of them. I now struggle every day just to get out of bad and in the shower. Now it may not be like that for every person, but I can name over 50 people who also had to seek treatment to get off of those pills. Contact me anytime you wish. KT

I really have no choice as I have cord contact 3 in levels of my C Spine,
2 -3 levels in my T Spine and 1 level with straight line curve. I am in the top 3% of chronic pain patients. Even with the medication my adrenals are failing and heart rate and BP up and down. Its either this or an in planted pump.
Believe it or not I don't care much for pain medication never have.

As for your question klonapen is not even close to xanax for controlling anxiety when prescribed alone. The only problem its very short acting, Klonapen may be longer acting with other med,s.

That is just my opinion, your doctor knows whats best when taken with other medication.

Thank's for your concern for me

Default Oxycontin

Hey Little*Bear...You seem to have run into a series of bad or fake medication going to this pharmacy. You said the doctor is three and a half hours away and you go to the pharmacy there that he sends you to when you're there? I was on Oxycontin for about 14 months several years ago and when I went off I was at 160 mg TID, with Roxicodone, 30 mg PRN for BT.

I have taken a lot of Purdue pharma Oxy products and never had a hint of problems from the pharmacy I fill at for all my scripts. The Oxys were definitely the real thing and if I were in your situation, the first thing I would do is tell the doctor (which you have) and then have the next script filled a different pharmacy. If you have a contract and need to tell him, so be it. You can't continue to get bogus meds that don't take care of your pain.

Ya know, you can always go to the pharmacy at the local hospital, I am sure they would help, if not just go pharmacy to pharmacy until you get a pharmicist who is willing to help you or that happens to know a lot about them..

Good luck to you

Hi Sweet,,,Hey lil bear, sounds like the doc and the pharmacy may be in it together, the pharmacy may be getting their meds illegally from other countries and god what a mess it is ,so much counterfiet meds out there, how about going to webmd and then click on the a-z drug guide find the oxy's and hit the images button you can also click on the pill and it will enlarge to a giant size so you could check it out back and front on there,Don't know if it will help,Im not an oc person the few I have done were generic and I don't have a clue what they are suppost to look like, good luck and take care Tammy
