Default Any experience or opinions about Ibogaine Treatment?

I have been taking oxycontin for almost a year now. I do it less frequesntly since I have a subutex subscription now but I cannot seem to kick the habit. Every time I have that extra 40$ in my pocket the first thing I think of is buying an 80. I do not have much success with tapering off subutex because I feel depresseed when I do not take my stable dose. I am only 17 years old and I really just want this out of my life. So my uncle (also an addict) and I want to travel over seas and try ibogaine treatment. I know it is illegal in the United States but it sounds like it has been very successful for addicts. I was just wonering if any body has any comments, opinions, or experience with ibogaine?

This drug has had some success with opiate addiction. You will hallucinate off this drug and it can be a very scary experience.
With your age you really need to get into a rehab\detox as what your lacking is the tools to quit.
I would leave the ibogaine treatment out until you have taken a morte traditional route. Ibogaine is an extremely strong drug but like I said it has worked for very strongly addicted addicts. I would not put you in that group of people as you don't really take that much opiates. This doesn't mean that you don't have a problem. You need to get into a rehab.
Suboxone isn't likely to work well for you as you haven't been abusing opiates long enough or taking the large amounts that change your brain chemistry.

In a rehab they will wean you down and may even use buprenorphene (subutex) for a short time.
Good luck and really give this whole thing some thought because I started out the same as you and before I knew it I was taking well over 3,000mgs of morphine a day and had been abusing daily for 23 years. So do yourself a favour and really make a effort to get off the opiates or you are in for a terrible ride. Good luck to you.....Dave

Dave ... I'm with you. I help people using subs here every day, but someone 17 years old doesn't need to do all that. I had been abusing drugs for over 35 years when I got clean.

There are SO many off the wall types of detox programs out there. Bottom line is they all work if you do what they say. Ibogaine would be included in that group. But so does a controlled detox like a rehab.

eric ... I would only suggest a rehab vs doing a cold turkey at home or Ibogaine, subs or whatever else, as the time in rehab will help to give you basic recovery tools like Dave said. There is more to staying clean than just getting clean. It's very hard to stay clean. You haven't lived long enough yet to understand everything involved.

I agree with Dave that an in-patient rehab would likely be the most advantageous for your particular situation. It's cool that we have so many different choices in this country.

Rehab is nothing to be ashamed of, it's no different than getting medical help for any other illness. I hope you'll follow through with something that will actually help you long term and not just some quick-fix program like Ibogaine. I don't think that is best for you. Good luck and God bless.

eric ... you're a kid dude. You've got your entire life ahead of you.

Why can't you afford treatment but you can afford all this other mess? You've been talking about using while taking subs, just not doing things like you should. I'm not judging you I'm just trying to help you, I'm pointing out the obvious.

All those excuses have nothing to do with being able to afford anything. That's an excuse. If you want treatment it's out there available. You said it right when you said that you just do not want to go into rehab. That's not a valid reason for not getting clean.

Either you want to do it or you don't. If you really want this I will help you. But you've got to shoot straight with me, no games. We can help you but only if you tell us the truth and shoot straight.

I would love to help turn someone's life around who is your age. That would make my day. Everyone here though is too experienced to play the same stories here you use with your parents and counselors. We were lying to everyone before you were born, I know all the stories for BSing people I promise you. Let me know if you want my help. God bless.
