Default advice loratab withdrawls one wk to go

My boyfriend started taking pain killers about 4 months ago for a bad back/neck injury. He re-injured it once. Then he got in a dirt bike accident and hurt his leg bad and has been taking them since. We discovered he has a problem. He is trying to get off. He can't go to a center because he can't get off work at all and has to maintain his responsibilities. We need advice on this. He is trying to "wing" himself off. He is on tylenol 3's instead of the stronger pain killers. He takes half of what he has been...it has been hard tho. I have to stay on him...sometimes he makes little excuses. Our goal/plan is from a week from now. Starting Thurs. get completely off and have thurs/fri sat sun to detox. We have to do it on the weekend plus a couple days. He wants to suppress it with drinking and smoking for the days he will be detoxing. Anything help or advice on any further info would be great. We heard about suboxone, but that is new and there isn't anyone in our area..and I think it is expensive. Please help with your advice.

If he's only been taking them for 4 months then he should be able to taper down and then just stop.Suboxone would probably be to strong for him and it's addictive too.He probably will have hardly any withdrawl pains since he only been on them a short time.I hope he stops now because he's heading down a road that's not going to be fun,he'll end up spending all his money on pills, lose everything and some of us end up dead.I hope he quit's for his sake.Good luck....Dave
