Default is it addiction?

i was just curious...i often take about 2-3 pills of hydrocodone, typically 10 mg hydro/325 mg acetaminophen (norco) or sometimes lortabs...would someone consider that an addiction? i take them typically every day during the evening time after work and on weekends anytime during the day! i typically wait 4-6 hours before taking another pill or i break them up in half and take it every 2 hours or so! i don't think i have a problem with it, i really love the stuff and how it feels but i feel like that's my only vice because i don't smoke, i don't drink and i don't smoke pot (on occasion i do but not every single day like most people i know). i would just like someone's opinion! there have been times when i've gone a week or so without any, but when i knew i couldn't get anymore i did taper off half a pill a day and my withdrawal wasn't horrible...some anxious feelings but nothing like aches/pains or diarrhea! am i just paranoid?

thanks!

I would say it is a mild addiction if there is such a thing. I have taken all kinds of pain killers mainly dyhidrocodene and tramadol but have tried heroin a couple of times over many years and don't know my self if i was ever addicted or not. I know i like them and the effects but I can go long periods off them whithout getting the shakes but miss the buzz in a funny sort of way but without haveing to go looking for it. Its a dangerous game to play and a fine ballance must be kept, a lot depends on your personality in my oppinion and if you can use them responsibley. There are many that found out the hard way and couldent keep the lid on it. But like all addiction they are probably certain personality types. If you dont progress to the top shelf and make sure you dont increase the dose (build up a tolerance) take stretches of days off you could be ok but this is probably not the best advise as i dont know you. and iam only going by my own experience which is all i know. Thats the best advice i can give you, be carefull Best wishes, Steve

I agree with that. It IS a very, very dangerous game to play. So dangerous, in fact, that I've given it up completely. For ME it was a problem.

Now, it's still a problem, but I'm not using anymore, haven't used in two weeks and it's better that way. FOR ME.

Super,
That is how my addiction started and really didn't get out of control with it until about 2 1/2 years using! At the time I thought I controled it and some where I lost that control!

Not so clueless,

thanks for the input!! well it's hard for me to even get the pills because it comes in waves! so i'll be better once it's out of sight/out of mind! sometimes i just have 1 pill a day or what not...i'm trying to stay focused and not get to the point where i'm taking 8 pills a day! but then again i have hard time getting the pills since i only know one person who gets it once in a while and then contacts me!
