Default Zoloft

I have been taking Zoloft almost 4 months now.I have social and general anxiety.I started at 50 mg's for 6 weeks, then 100 mg's for 6 weeks, then 200 mg's as of now and I am in my 9th week.I don't feel the Zoloft kicking in at all.I actually feel more anxiety then before the Zoloft. Most of the bad side effects are gone now, except for dry mouth and anxiety.I remember the first 7 days taking the 50 mg dose.It made me very calm as soon as i took it but it faded away.I don't want to give up on the Zoloft because they say every person is different on how they respond to the medication.I was wondering should I be feeling better now or should I just change to a different SSRI medication??

I can tell you that from my own experience, when I was put on Zoloft it did nothing at first. Then, when my doc upped the dose from 50 to 100, in a matter of 2 days I felt suicidal for the first time ever, and I felt like I was crawling out of my skin. I cut myself for the first time ever in my life, and ended up in a mental hospital for the first time ever as well[:0][V]
I was taken off of it immediately, and all of it went away immediately. I was put on Paxil instead, and it has done wonders for me except for the fact that I gained 30lbs. in 3 months!
So now, my doc is putting me on Effexor. The thig is that with these meds is all about trial and error. Mybe you could talk to your doc and try something new. With anti-depressants, you should be able to notice a difference within the month. If you haven't, Zoloft might not be the thing for you.
Please keep me posted

Sincerely,
Alessandra

Thanks for your posts very much.I think Zoloft is similar to Prozac.I have heard that sometimes a SSRI med can take 8 weeks or longer to work.I did feel terrible on the 100 mg of Zoloft but I have felt better with the 200 mg's but I am still waiting in my 9th week to notice a clear improvement with my anxieties.Does anybody think that after a full 8 weeks of 200 mg's, should I still give it more time to work??? Thanks for any replies!
