Hi!

There's a helpful-looking, non-technical article on discontinuing Xanax, by Dr. Stephen Cox of the National Anxiety Foundation, Lexington, Kentucky. You can find it at:
http://www.lexington-on-line.com/naf_xanax.html

Hope it helps.

Have 2 friends that began coming off zanax and 1 was put on buspar to ease the withdrawal symptoms. Drug can't be stopped abruptly due to danger of seizures.

Hi there. I had to stop abruptly off of Xanax a couple of years ago and I was bad off. I could not sleep for almost 10 days straight. My body felt like bugs were crawling all over me and edgy bad. Like I drank about 10 pots of coffee. Real bad experience. I had moved from one state the another and I thought the prescription could just be transfered. NOT So I went to a Dr in the new state and he wanted to put me in a rehab.. I had NO insurance so I could not do that. He would NOT give me any to ease me off of them. I was taking the blue ones like 3 times a day.
